🕯️ #whatthisweek 🕯️

❣️ what I’m reading…
• just finished la bastarda, a lovely little translated lesbian novel and I’m meeting with the translator for a class
• I just started the descent of alette which is a novel in verse / epic that indicates poetic feet with quotation marks- it’s lyrical and lovely and an interesting examination of a descent into hell through a contemporary setting (the subway system) but I’m not super invested and feel intimidated due to all of the anonymous speakers

❣️ what I’m listening to…
• Nxdia
• Tate Mcrae
• old fixation songs I shouldn’t be listening to lol
• ace of cups specifically taste of one

❣️ what I’m watching…
• I am assigned to watch a Japanese film about a group of people who have died and what their lives are like after death
• I watched Mulholland Drive. Excellent.
•Yellowjackets… have I spent hours watching edits. Yes. Is my background a gay cannibalistic collage with Sophie thatcher at the center. Yes.
• the lure ! Mixed feelings about this cannibalistic mermaid movie. Wasn’t gay. I thought it was gonna be gay. lol
• true detective
• I started watching jersey shore for the first time in my life and it’s so fucking silly
• catching up on traitors and the bachelor
• white lotus

❣️ what I’m writing…
• some contrapuntal poems and starting a new crown while finishing the old one. I workshopped my 55 page thesis draft and I’m feeling really good about this collection! I have a lot of work to do but I also think I could begin querying the manuscript by the end of the year which I would have never dreamed of a few weeks ago

❣️ what I’m loving…
• queer community + sapphics <3
• nyc recovery community
• the fact that i still haven’t smoked a cigarette after a few months even in these trying times

wishing you a safe and cozy autumn read tucked in during this storm...

academically locked in harder than I have in months this week + I was finally able to watch the love hypothesis after turning in a research proposal that drained the sleep out of my soul. it was so sweet and silly and now i am rushing to reread bride bc it is time for me to inject some ali hazelwood into my veins taken in 𝒐𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒓. by @forrestreading

a cutesy thriftbooks find- "to catch a pirate" is a young adult historical romance following sixteen year old Annalisa Townsend as she hunts down a pirate named James Starling after a tense encounter many months earlier, him, left reeling by a kiss, but with her father's heirloom treasure in his palms.

I need to stop by Hospital Thrift soon to see what else I can find 🧑🏻‍🏫 taken in Nantucket, Massachusetts by @forrestreading
