Why FORTH?

Every story starts with an idea.

Two couples. Four people. One island. And one shared dream - to create a coffee shop of our own.

We met here, on Madeira, and quickly discovered that we shared the same passion for coffee, hospitality and the idea of creating something new for the island.

For us, coffee is more than a drink. It’s a craft, a culture and a way to connect with people. We wanted to share our experience, introduce new flavours and show that there is always another side to coffee - with more character, passion and attention to detail.

From the very beginning, our goal has been simple: to create a place where quality comes first. We carefully choose every ingredient, focus on every detail of our products, and create a warm, genuine experience for every guest who walks through our doors.

That’s how FORTH was born.

The name carries two meanings.

FORTH is an adverb that means moving forward - through time, place, or order. It also describes something coming into view, emerging, and taking its place in the world.

And it is sounds like Force - the drive, determination and energy to create, grow and keep moving forward.

And Four - because there are four of us behind this idea.

Young, ambitious and curious, we came to Madeira with a dream - and decided to build it together.

Specialty coffee in a fishing village? 🎣☕

A group of Ukrainian friends decided to bring specialty coffee and brunch outside Funchal, opening this beautiful little spot in a fishing village. Great coffee, delicious breakfast and even coffee beans to take home!

Just a 15-minute drive from Funchal, you’ll find a little town that many people overlook. And we almost did too.

📍 This is Câmara de Lobos, Madeira 🇵🇹

A colourful fishing town with a relaxed atmosphere, charming streets and beautiful decorations. For coffee, definitely stop by @forth.madeira ☕️ And apparently, the sunset at Jardim do Ilhéu is pretty special too!

Parabéns, Câmara de Lobos! 🌊🤎

Hoje o município celebra 191 anos. 🎊

Abrimos a FORTH há muito pouco tempo, mas já nos sentimos em casa. É uma enorme alegria e um orgulho fazer parte desta comunidade e desenvolver o nosso projeto aqui.
Para celebrar, preparámos um pequeno mimo da nossa equipa:

🚒 Em sinal de profundo respeito, oferecemos café de filtro a todos os bombeiros fardados.

🍪 Das 09h30 às 11h00, oferecemos as nossas bolachas a todos os clientes (ou até esgotarem!).
Esperamos por vocês para um café matinal depois da missa e do desfile. ☕️

O Jardim das Grutas recebeu, esta manhã, muita energia e movimento, com duas aulas orientadas pelo PT Gonçalo Castanha, que colocou os participantes à prova com PowerGlutes e FitChallenge.

As atividades decorreram no âmbito da Semana Europeia do Desporto e contaram com o patrocínio da Coral e da Forth, que proporcionaram um lanche saudável aos participantes.

A iniciativa contou ainda com a participação da Sra. Vereadora com o pelouro do Desporto, Cátia Capontes, que se juntou à manhã de exercício e convívio.
