The viral social media theory claiming "9 to 5" means working 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, rather than the literal hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM is false. Historically and linguistically, "9 to 5" does mean 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The phrase literally describes the clock hours of a traditional 8-hour workday, which famously includes an unpaid or paid lunch break, popularized by decades of office culture and Dolly Parton’s famous song and movie 9 to 5.

Whatever the case, we likely all agree that being stuck in an office isn't ideal when all you can think about is your next ride. For the daily commuter, the 5 to 9 becomes this space of pure possibility, one that they dream about even when it hasn't yet arrived. Perhaps we should also write a song to commemorate this sacred window of free time by @fortnine

The Great International World ChampionShip Bathtub Race in Nanaimo is the ideal blend of hilarity and temerity for the nautical thrill seeker and has been since 1967. They say runners are a dying breed. But then there's @ridegradient & the Squamish Tubscoutz. See you next year @bathtubweekend . by @fortnine
