![[Swipeeee!] Detroit 🥰! I can’t say enough good things about the discussion, music and most importantly the people that I was privelged to meet, work and play with in Detroit. The inspiring panel of kick-ass women founders/owners/djs/producers - @djminxwomenonwax, @czboogie (5magazine), @asyashein (Fusicology), Roula David (Spotlight), Morin Yousif (media Paxahau), DJ Lynda Carter (The Locker Room/Mix), @sillygirlcarmen (DJ & host), @thilldetroit (radio personality, Charivari) - and the folks who rocked it with us in the booth : @djcentdetroit, @raedylex and the audience >>> you lit me up!!!
Huge thanks @toddjohnsonbrand, SillyGirlCarmen, @wonderfuldjs , TV Lounge & @charivaridetroit , for making space for our voices, experience and contributions.
Looking forward to seeing what you do next! Keep ‘em coming!

![1. New article! Big thanks to @bslowbro at @shepherdexpress for spotlighting a bit of my journey and @apart_music mission
2. It’s perfect timing that I’m Playing one of MKE’s dopest parties tonight (1/29)! Any genre except pop, live art, face painting, a diverse group of folks involving several facets of our community @yononpop at @madplanetmke
3. Bringing the classics out for it, so hard to choose. (Thank you digital for letting me bring every track without breaking my back!)
5. Article link in bio. The most important part - EVERY artist I work with makes me feel something rare - an excitement that’s hard to arouse in this old sober woman who’s been hearing it for 30 years, and doesn’t use anything that enhances how music hits. Each person on the @apart_music roster is a fantastic dj, practiced, skilled, unique and special. Check:
@niki_kitz @subxtort @jevonjackson @blu9chicago @djladyd @dj_jerome_baker @djboyfrrriend @del1lac @djdripsweat @djnustylez @swadetrackz_ @treatyoselfdjs @foxyphox
4/6.Music Activism has been @apart_music’s slogan since the rebrand 10 years ago. What that means to me now is a lot different than back then, but it’s always been a heartfelt mission - not what’s on trend, not a business move, no check marks. I definitely don’t always get it right, thankful for the many doing great work and willing to educate, so I may learn. Luckily no one needs to get it right all the time. Commitment to proactively doing better, plus willingness to learn and especially LISTEN, is all we need to bring to the table.
[ PS name 5 records in the pic, title & artist, & I’ll give you a prize. For real ]
