Eleven hundred metres down, they found a man hanging from his own rope 😱

In the Arabika mountains of Georgia sits Veryovkina — a cave plunging more than 2,200 metres into the Earth, among the deepest ever explored. Reaching the bottom takes four days, sleeping in camps pitched as deep as 2,100 metres down.

In November 2020, Sergei Kozeev, a tourist from Sochi, entered alone and without permission. After a week camped at 600 metres, he pushed into the cave's wettest, hardest stretch — and at 1,100 metres he got stuck, without the stirrups he needed to climb back out. He died of hypothermia, still on his rope. His body was recovered nine months later, in August 2021.

That same year, the cave's own record-expedition leader, Pavel Demidov, died in a rockfall — in a cave nearby.

Two men climbed a hill in 1966 wearing homemade lead masks — following a dead man's timed instructions. They were never seen alive again 😱

On August 20, 1966, the bodies of Manoel Pereira da Cruz, 32, and Miguel José Viana, 34 — both electronics technicians — were found on Vintém Hill, above Niterói, Brazil. They lay side by side in formal suits and raincoats, handmade lead shields over their eyes. Nearby: two towels, an empty water bottle, a bar receipt dated August 17 — and a notebook.

Inside was a schedule, written like orders: be at the indicated place. Ingest capsules. After the effect, protect the metals. Await the signal mask. The autopsy found no definitive cause of death; toxicology showed only traces, far below fatal levels. Some blame a spiritual experiment. Others whisper of lights in the sky. Both are only theories. Sixty years later, the Lead Masks case is still unsolved.

This curved needle dives under your skin — and comes out the other side of the cut 😱

A stitch isn't sewing you shut. The needle drags a medical thread through both edges of the wound and pulls them together so your tissue can heal itself. The knot is the tiny lock that holds it all — and the spacing is everything: too tight, and the thread strangles the blood flow the wound needs to heal; too loose, and the edges drift apart and the cut never closes.

Some stitches are designed to disappear, dissolving inside you over days and weeks. Others are removed once you've healed. And the oldest dissolvers of all were called catgut — thread spun from sheep and cattle gut. Today's dissolving stitches are lab-made polymers instead. No gut. No cats.

There is a doll in a museum in Florida that you must ask permission to photograph 😱

His name is Robert — a sailor-suited doll who came to a boy in Key West in the early 1900s. Where he came from, nobody agrees: one story says his grandfather bought him in Germany around 1904; another, pure folklore, says a Bahamian servant gave him to the boy. The boy, Robert Eugene Otto, blamed every mishap in the house on the doll: "Robert did it." Family and neighbors said they heard giggling from empty rooms — and saw the doll watching from windows when no one was home.

After Otto died in 1974, the next owner of the house said the doll moved around on its own. In 1994, Robert was donated to the Fort East Martello Museum, where he sits in a glass case today. Visitors still ask his permission before taking his picture — because the museum keeps receiving letters: apologies from people who photographed him anyway, then blamed him when their luck turned bad. Over a thousand letters have arrived. Legend? Almost certainly. But the letters keep coming.

Would you take his photo without asking — YES or NO?

Six people were murdered in this farmhouse in 1922 — and the killer stayed for days afterward, feeding the animals and keeping the fire lit 😱

On the evening of March 31, 1922, all six people at Hinterkaifeck, a farmstead in Bavaria, Germany, were killed with a mattock: Andreas Gruber (63), his wife Cäzilia (72), their widowed daughter Viktoria Gabriel (35), her children Cäzilia (7) and Josef (2), and the maid Maria Baumgartner (44) — who had arrived that very day. The warnings had come earlier: footprints in the snow leading from the forest to the farm, and none leading back. The family reported footsteps in the attic. A house key vanished. A newspaper no one had bought appeared in the house. The previous maid had quit six months before, swearing the place was haunted.

Four bodies were found stacked in the barn, two in the house, discovered on April 4. And for days after the murders, someone stayed in that house — feeding the animals, eating the food, keeping the fire lit. Over one hundred suspects were questioned; the mattock was found hidden in the barn loft; no one was ever charged. The farm was demolished in 1923, the case closed unsolved in 1955, and a 2007 police review concluded it can never be definitively solved.

Was someone hiding in that house all along — YES or NO?

The most famous haunted house in America started with a real murder — and the haunting itself may have been invented 😱

In the early hours of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr., 23, shot his parents and four siblings as they slept in their Amityville, New York home. Convicted of six counts of murder, he was sentenced to six life terms. The house stood empty for over a year. Then, in December 1975, George and Kathy Lutz bought it for one hundred ten thousand dollars, moved in on December 18 — and fled twenty-eight days later.

What they said happened inside became legend: swarms of flies in the dead of winter. Walls that oozed. Beds that levitated. A presence they called Jodie. But none of it was ever independently verified — and DeFeo's own defense lawyer later said he helped invent much of the story, together with the Lutzes. Jay Anson's book "The Amityville Horror" made the tale immortal, and the 1979 film earned over $116 million. Later owners of the house have reported no paranormal activity at all.

The murders were real. The haunting remains unproven.

In this forest, compasses spin, watches stop, and a clearing in the middle grows nothing at all 😱

This is Hoia Baciu, outside Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, Romania — a forest so strange that locals call it the Bermuda Triangle of Transylvania, and warn strangers never to wander in alone. Its ancient oaks and beeches grow twisted — trunks bent at ninety degrees, spiraling as they rise from the ground. Botanists have studied them for decades, and still have no accepted explanation.

At its heart lies Poiana Rotundă — a near-perfect circle where no tree will grow. Soil tests found normal pH and no toxins, yet what's planted there stays stunted. In the nineteen sixties and seventies, expeditions recorded elevated radiation, and magnetic readings that kept shifting. In 2013, one survey found magnetic variance twenty percent above background. Visitors report stranger things — nausea, rashes, electronics dying without warning, even time that seems to go missing. Reports only. None has ever been proven.

The anomalies can be measured. They cannot be explained.

In the year 40, two sisters declared war on the Chinese empire — and for three years, they actually won 😱

Jiaozhi — today northern Vietnam — was ruled by China's Han dynasty. When the governor, Su Ding, had Trưng Trắc's husband Thi Sách executed, Trưng Trắc and her younger sister Trưng Nhị rallied the Lạc Việt people — and took some sixty-five strongholds. The governor fled. Trưng Trắc was proclaimed queen.

But an empire does not forgive. In 42 CE, General Ma Yuan arrived with an army and a fleet. By 43 CE, the rebellion was crushed and the empire took its land back. How the sisters died, no one agrees: Chinese records say captured and beheaded; Vietnamese chronicles say they drowned themselves in the Hát Giang River rather than surrender. Both stories are still told — and Vietnam honors them to this day.

In Yoro, Honduras, the rain doesn't just bring water — locals say it brings fish 😱

Every year, in the May and June rainy season, the whole town waits for the first great storm. When it passes, the ground is scattered with small live fish — flapping in fields and streets where no river runs. It's been reported here for over a hundred years, and since 1998 Yoro has celebrated it with the Festival de Lluvia de Peces — the Rain of Fish Festival.

In the 1970s, a National Geographic team saw the aftermath: fish scattered on the ground after a storm. No one has ever seen them fall from the sky. Theory one: waterspouts lift fish from the Atlantic, seventy kilometres away. Theory two: the fish live in underground rivers — and the fish the scientists found were blind. Local legend says Father Subirana prayed three days and nights, and the fish came. Legend, yes. But the fish are real.

A millionaire hid a treasure chest in the mountains — and published the map as a poem 😱

Forrest Fenn — art dealer, former Air Force pilot — was told in 1988 that cancer would kill him. He beat it, and kept the plan it had given him: a bronze chest of gold nuggets, rare coins, jewelry and gemstones, hidden in the Rockies north of Santa Fe.

In 2010, his memoir The Thrill of the Chase hid a 24-line poem with nine clues. For ten years, hunters scoured four states — and at least four died searching. On June 6, 2020, Jack Stuef found the chest in Wyoming. Fenn died that September, aged 90. The chest, worth about $2 million by Fenn's own estimate, later sold for about $1.3 million. Its hiding place? Never revealed.

Eight people went to sleep in this Iowa house in 1912. None woke up 😱

On the night of June 9, 1912, the Moore family came home to 508 East 2nd Street, Villisca, Iowa. By morning, all eight people in the house — Josiah, Sarah, their four children, and guests Lena and Ina Stillinger — had been killed in their beds with the family's own axe.

The killer draped clothing over every mirror, left the axe beside a four-pound slab of bacon, cooked food he never touched, and left a bowl of bloody water. Suspects were tried; no one was ever convicted. The case is officially unsolved — and the house is now a museum where you can book an overnight stay. Visitors report footsteps, voices, and shadow figures.

In 1883, a sound so loud it was heard 3,000 miles away — and it circled the entire planet 😱

For months, Krakatoa had been smoking and rumbling in the Sunda Strait. On August 27, 1883, the third explosion of the day tore the island apart — over seventy percent of it collapsed into a caldera beneath the sea. Rated six on the Volcanic Explosivity Index, it sent tsunamis racing to the coasts. At least 36,417 people died.

The sound was heard in Perth, nearly two thousand miles away, and again on Rodrigues Island, three thousand miles away. For days, barometers around the world spiked again and again as the pressure wave circled the globe multiple times. Today, a new volcano rises from that caldera.
