Hey, Therapists! Walk/run therapy is a gift that can change how you practice and work with your clients. 👟🫂🥰
•
Since I opened my practice in 2022, I have been enjoying meeting clients literally where they are-in the woods, on trails, or even in empty parking lots! 🌳🌞
•
I often get emails/messages about how I do it (not that my way is the only way), so I’ve decided to officially offer professional consultation for providers looking to grow their skills and try a different way of practicing. 📚👩🏻‍🏫
•
Indigenous people have been healing through nature and movement for decades. Oppressed people have been using collective movement for decades. Therapists before me have also brought this concept to life in their practice. This idea did not start with me.🌎👏
•
Using my own trial and error, a social justice lens, a health at every size®️ perspective, the evidence that informs my practice, and the amazing clients who have shared the outdoors with me, I am now ready to share my knowledge and experience! 🥳🤩
•
Let’s make a world where more people can access walk/run therapy outside if they want it. Go to the link in bio to learn more about this offering and book your professional consultation!

A reminder that Italians have a long history of being part of the resistance.✊🤗💖 We love to see this connection across the world. We all need the same peace.☮️ #partigiana #socialwork #mentalhealth #noborders by @forwardmotioncounseling

📣Last week’s blog post 📣

It’s been almost five years of doing walk/run therapy and it is still exciting! The cool thing is that this therapy is becoming more popular and more therapists are using this type of therapy to reach people. 🤗🥳

For a tough body image or body grief day, this may resonate 💫✨
•
For my mother, her mother, and her mother, and you, your mother, and your mother’s mother:

How can I shame this body?
The body of my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother
The body that my ancestors traveled in
The body that saw war, love, sorrow
The body that was politicized
But carried babes, that lost babes, that made pottery, that cooked, that planted, that fed others
And fought so hard to keep going in a world that is relentless toward women
My cells are them and they are my cells
We are all the body that knows how to fight,
to survive and thrive in the worst of times.
•
Do you see yourself in your ancestors and ever think about what they had to survive in their bodies? Maybe it is fruitless to shame your changing body that carries such history. You are a real life piece of historical art. 💓

Happy Freedom Day/Juneteenth! So much fun dancing, chatting, drumming, and seeing people embrace each other. Community heals. 💓💓 by @forwardmotioncounseling

Putnam Pride is really something special. Four years ago, I went to my first Putnam Pride without knowing anyone as a new business. Now, this feels like a party with friends who come together for human rights: to let people live as who they are, ICE out of our community, and a free Palestine. ✊
•
Today my practice raised money to support our DJ at Juneteenth (6/19 at Arts on the Lake). This is community coming together. This is real social work 💓🥳 Thanks to everyone who stopped by and all the amazing vendors!
