Why did young founders outperform industry giants?

In my Forwardpreneurs interview with Dr. Dileep Rao, we explored a recurring pattern he studied behind some of the world’s most iconic companies:

They weren’t just smart.
They were early.

• Bill Gates entered personal computing before it was an industry.
• Michael Dell built PCs when distribution models were still forming.
• Jeff Bezos launched into the internet before established experts understood it.
• Google scaled search when the web was still chaotic.

Emerging trends reset the playing field.

When a market is new:
• There are no established experts
• Experience advantages shrink
• Industry "leaders" hesitate

That’s why young founders often win in technological shifts.
