From the classroom to the kitchen table, most families are barely scraping by. And some lawmakers are making things harder: Public school budgets are being stretched thin. Kids in rural counties are losing access to school meals. Families are still paying a grocery tax every time they shop. And Tennessee’s job growth has been nearly flat for two years.These aren’t isolated issues — they’re connected, and they’re happening right now. Instead of focusing on real solutions, some lawmakers are trying to divide us based on race and immigration status, because they know we’re stronger together. Across the state, Tennesseans are joining together to demand the kind of home we want and deserve — where every family has a fair shot and our leaders actually listen. by @forwardtennessee

I saw this originally posted by @forwardtennessee and then I heard the @mizzwelch quote while listening to IHIP News (@ivehaditpodcast ) today I thought this clip perfectly represented what she was talking about. This post is of pastor Jeff Brown at Woodmont Hills Church in Nashville, TN. I don’t know much about the values and beliefs of this church beyond this clip but what I do know is that white, Christian, evangelicals in the South need to be hearing this message especially from someone who looks like them. by @forwardtennessee

Our faith is revealed by how we treat the most vulnerable. No parent of a terminally ill child should have to choose between lifesaving care and the fear of deportation. Every child bears the image of God and deserves compassion, dignity, and care. Governor Lee and Attorney General Skrmetti have the power to change this.
