I quiet quit my own business this summer🫣

Not because I stopped caring. Because life needed me more than the business did, and I finally listened.

If you ever find yourself working for your business, instead of the other way around, something is seriously wrong. So I stepped back. Properly. I wasn’t worried if my business would still be here when I came back, because I’ve built a business with community at the heart 💖

The world kept spinning. People kept connecting. Money kept coming in.

And as a result, I came back clearer than I’ve felt in a long time.

In part one of this article, I shared my reflections from arriving at Community Council - four days in Normandy hosted by Christina Hug inside the most beautiful château imaginable - and how the experience completely reframed what intentional community building can look and feel like.

From the onboarding process and personalised touches to removing job titles for the first day and designing every interaction with belonging in mind, it was one of the most thoughtful experiences I’ve ever been part of.

But the biggest reflections didn’t hit me until after I got home.

💌 Today I hand in my resignation from the game we’ve been tricked into playing - designed by men who don’t even follow their own rules.

It’s time for a new game.

One built on love, leadership, matriarchy, equity, community and kindness as the end goal.

A game where business is built around our lives, not the other way around. And with purpose and profit at the heart of everything we do.

Guys, I think I’ve cracked it!! 😝

When it comes to my work I give ALL the fucks, but what I’ve learned (as someone who likes to do life a little “differently”) is that there’ll always be people who don’t agree with the way you do things - this is not a sign to stop but to ask yourself if their opinions really matter…

I’ve been quiet on socials because when I’m not parenting two smalls I’m onboarding our newest GYOC members, which includes their first 90 minute strategy session as we build out a plan for the next 90 days.

This is where they -

🧠 Build their positive mindset around money and what’s possible

✍️ Asses what’s been going well vs what is no longer serving them

💰Set realistic but stretchy goals around revenue targets and level of impact they want to have

💪 Build a roadmap alongside the GYOC modules that will support them to build a community offer people simply can’t say no to

I can not wait to see what they get up to over the next few months 🪐💸❤️‍🔥🌐

One of my goals before turning 40 was to be able to do a freestanding handstand.

For the last nine months I’ve been practising, training, building my strength, falling over and trying again.

Today I decided to record my first attempt of the day and I can’t believe it. I bloody did it!! Talk about to the wire!! 🙃

It seems almost silly, after everything I’ve achieved in life, that this moment feels so significant.

But I think it’s because it reminded me of something we so easily forget:

When we put our minds to something, it’s incredible what we’re capable of.

It doesn’t really matter whether the goal is doing a handstand, building a business, changing your life, learning something new or doing something you once thought you couldn’t.

There is so much power in deciding I’m going to do this and then continuing to show up for it, even when you’re not there yet.

Because every time we set ourselves a goal and eventually get to say I fucking did it, we give ourselves a little more evidence that the next thing might be possible too.

And maybe that’s the real magic of goals✨

It’s not just what we achieve at the end of them.

It’s who we prove ourselves capable of becoming along the way.

As I head towards 40, that’s something I want to remember and something I think we could all remind ourselves of more often.

Set the goal. Do the work. Keep showing up 💪

Because sometimes the things that once felt impossible just need a little more time, determination and consistency.

The GYOC Sprint community space is open.

We don’t start until tomorrow, but you don’t have to wait until then. The space is live now, so you can get in, say hello and meet the people you’ll be doing this with before we’ve even begun.

That bit matters more than people expect. Three days goes fast. Walking in already knowing a few faces changes how much you actually take from it.
