Two weekends ago, our CFJ Competitive High School Team headed down to Columbus to take on two regattas, the Blake Haxton on Saturday and the Speakmon Memorial Regatta on Sunday! Our 8th grade team joined in on the fun, racing the last event of the day on Saturday in the Mixed Middle School 8+, and placing 3rd out of 8! 🥉 Some Haxton highlights: Luke and Emil placed 5th of 13 in the Men’s 2nd Varsity 2x, and Juliana and Sophia placed 8th of 13 in the Women’s 2nd Varsity 2x. Both crews called it their best race of the season! On Sunday, the team took on the Speakmon Memorial Regatta for the first time. It’s a Halloween tradition there for boats to race in costume, and our athletes went all in! 🥉 Giles took 3rd of 18 in the Men’s HS 1x, just 4 seconds off 2nd!
🥈 The Cotton Candy Quad (Juliana, Jaiden, Deagan, and Sophia) took 2nd of 5 in the Mixed Open 4x, which was Jaiden and Deagan’s first medal!
🥈 Our Mixed HS 8+ dressed as Gru and his minions and took 2nd of 6! (Graham, Mia, Juliana, Giles, Luke, Emil, Canden, Sophia, and Lilly) Mia placed 8th of 21 in the Women’s HS 1x, C.J. raced his first ever single, and our coxswains Graham and Olivia jumped into a double as Alvin and Theodore and finished a 5k! We couldn’t think of a better way to end the fall regatta season. We’re so proud of the growth we’ve seen from both teams and all the energy and love they bring to the water! 🧡 by @foundry216
That’s a wrap on our eight-week School Day Sailing Academy with @gcacleveland! Our 3rd and 4th graders started with the basics, learning the parts of the boat, tying knots, and figuring out which way the wind was blowing. Week by week they built on it, from steering with the tiller and recovering from a capsize to tacking, gybing, and sailing upwind. They finished with a full skills review and all graduated! We’re so proud of how far these young sailors came, on and off the water. Thank you, GCA, for sailing with us this fall! ⛵️🧡 by @foundry216
Come with us to sailing practice at the Historic Coast Guard Station! ⛵ by @foundry216
What an amazing night on Tuesday! Arshay Cooper came to the Foundry to present us with the 2026 A Most Beautiful Thing Award. It’s a national award recognizing diversity in rowing, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you to everyone who came out and listened to Arshay’s incredible story. And thank you to our athletes, coaches, and families who make this place what it is, on and off the water. While they were in town, we also had the chance to show Arshay and his team our sailing simulators at the Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center, and Arshay took the time to speak with students at Warrensville Middle School. A huge thank you to @arshaycooper and the team at @amostbeautifulthingfund for this honor. We’re so proud to be recognized by an organization doing such important work in our sport! by @foundry216
