Urvi wears its name in Porotherm and tile before it ever needs the signage.
Sloped roofs doing what sloped roofs have always done here shedding monsoon, holding shade, refusing to pretend the climate is optional. Stone at the base like the house grew up out of the ground instead of being placed on it. And that one arch, glass to floor, letting the garden walk straight into the room without asking permission.
Nothing here is trying to look old. It just remembers how to build for this weather, this light, this red earth and builds that way again.

Palakkad holds its stone the way old houses hold their quiet reluctantly, at first, then completely.
This one leans into it. Rough granite left bare where a wall could easily have been finished and forgotten. Cane and teak doing the work smoothed cement usually does. A blue chair that has no business looking that calm in a house built from rock.
Somewhere near the centre, the plan folds into itself frame within frame within frame and for a second the house stops being a house and becomes a question about how far a room can recede before it disappears.
Morning gets in anyway. It always does.
