Well, it’s in the books! After a decade of being involved in the fandom, I finally got to attend my first supernatural convention.

I’ve always watched panels on YouTube and read about peoples experiences on Tumblr and had intense fomo because they never came to a state near me, but I can’t say that anymore! And they’re planning on returning to Boston next year as well.

I found Supernatural during the worst period of my life. My mom had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, my ex had left me for someone else, I didn’t have any support system to turn to, and so I turned to escapism. I know, I know. Not the best coping mechanism ever, but it worked for me. I found something to look forward to and be happy about, a place to talk to people and connect, and something to distract me from the hell that was real life. People thought my obsession with the show was annoying, it probably was, but it was the only thing getting me through. I made all my siblings watch it. I made my mom watch it. When my mom died, I leaned into it even harder.

I make fanart, but most people don’t know I run a horror fanfiction writing event in the supernatural fandom. I got to meet and chat with a few people from my group and that was beyond cool. I even got to purchase an original painting someone made for my event. (Not pictured, the autographed one is my own.)

Overall there were things I’d definitely want to do again, things that were overwhelming too, (mostly the misha things 🥴) and things that were underwhelming when comparing it to the things I’ve read online over the years, but I had fun. (And I’m never going to forget that misha collins told me I only have good sides— might as well put it on my headstone now.) #spnbos #spnboston #spnfamily #supernatural by @fourfamiliarwalls_
