830 square feet, from demo to the final railing.

The white picture frame gives this deck a look you don’t see every day. DekDrain keeps the space underneath dry, too.

What would you do with a deck this size?

Spent the weekend volunteering at Deerfoot Lodge, building log railings and getting to be a small part of a place that means a lot to me and so many others.

This building also has some incredible CNC-cut timber beams by @sautertimber. It’s always fun seeing old-school craftsmanship and modern precision come together in the same project.

Putting down some @oc.lumber Marine Grade Decking in Mink

Today we worked on finalizing the Mink field decking. For this design, we are coping the board against the brick veneer and ending on full boards. There are no ripped deck boards in this design.

Field decking is being installed with face screws and plugs. While we could route and install clips, this connection utilizes stronger fasteners & twice as many compared to options that install between the boards. The result is a much stronger connection that results in a higher performing structure over time.

A double boarder is wrapping this design. A wide plank Saddle on the perimeter with an inset standard width Black board. Each section will be isolated by the Saddle planks with the Black boarder inset on each side, defining that area.

Huge shout-out to @fourth_fold & @killi.p for joining us this week to catch up after various delays set us behind schedule.
