“How does it feel to record your first song?”

“Exciting.” 🥹🎙️✨

This little smile says so much—but this is only a small piece of what Zoë accomplished during her very first studio session.

It wasn’t just about laying vocals over a track. It was about giving her room to experience the process in her own way. We took breaks to move, stretch, get some sunlight, check in with our bodies, and come back when she was ready. She communicated when she needed time, we honored it, and then she got right back in there and continued doing her thing. Okayyy, energetic goals and energetic boundaries! 👏🏾💛

And she did AMAZING. From her vocals to the ad-libs, she really showed up.

Most importantly, SHE WANTED TO BE THERE. She felt supported, left excited about the song she helped create, and already asked me about the next Voices of the Young Creatives project. 😳😂

We still have more to record and develop, which means…PART TWO IS COMING! 🔥🎶

Thank you to Zoë’s amazing parents for being present, flexible, supportive, and open to allowing us to support her throughout this experience.

Thank you to @FourthQuarterStudios, Kamaria, and our incredible engineer Daryl. Your experience working with children genuinely shined through. The studio was warm, welcoming, and comfortable—and the fruit, chips, cupcakes, water, and all the thoughtful details made the experience feel even more special. 🧁🍓

Much love to CT @ChozenSoundz for creating this fire track and pulling up to support the session in person. The whole room felt like family, and I know Zoë could feel how loved and supported she was.

This is only the first glimpse. More behind-the-scenes moments are coming so y’all can catch the whole vibe.

IT’S STUDIO DAYYYYY! 🎙️🔥👑

Y’all…WE MADE IT.

Today, the Young Creatives are stepping into @FourthQuarterStudios to record the youth empowerment anthem they wrote together—and I am sooo excited for them! 🥹🌈🎶

This started as an idea: create a space where children could explore their emotions, use their imaginations, build real songwriting skills, and make music created for them and by them. Today, they get to hear that idea come alive! 🥰🤩

They’re walking into the studio as writers, artists, collaborators, and young people whose voices deserve to be heard. I’m personally looking forward to seeing how they respond once they hear themselves through the mic over this FIRE track from @ChozenSoundz 😮‍💨😂🔥.

MUCH love to everybody who has supported this project, brought their children to the workshops, shared our posts, encouraged the vision, and trusted this process. I’m grateful for every piece of love that helped us reach this moment.

And trust— we are absolutely bringing y’all with us. The studio footage, workshop recaps, behind-the-scenes moments, and the finished anthem are all on the way. 🎥🎧

If your Young Creative still wants to pull up today, participation is FREE. DM me directly for the studio details.

Next stop... **4th Quarter Studios.** @fourthquarterstudios 🤯🎙️✨

Wow.

We officially wrapped up our final Voices of the Young Creatives workshop, and I’m just sitting here feeling really grateful. 🥹

The reel says it all...

How it started. ➡️ How it ended.

One young artist showed up ready to create, and let me tell y’all... she ATE. 😭🔥

She showed up with ideas, confidence, creativity, and so much excitement. Watching her continue to grow throughout this experience was really special.

We also had the owner of @FourthQuarterStudios pull up, friends and family came through to support, and we wrapped everything up with a group picture that just made me smile.😁

This project has reminded me that it’s never just about the numbers. It’s about showing up, creating something meaningful together, and pouring into the people in the room.

Mission accomplished. 💛

Thank you to everyone who attended a workshop, shared a post, donated snacks, volunteered, supported behind the scenes, encouraged these young creatives, and believed in this vision from the very beginning!

That includes a huge thank you to the **City of Virginia Beach Individual Artist Support Grant** @vabeacharts for making it possible to offer this experience for $FREE.99. 😂💙

Now...

🎤 Next stop: **the studio.**

On August 15th, these young artists will officially step into the booth and record a song they wrote themselves.

Whew... we really did it.

I’m so proud of every single person who has been part of this journey, and I cannot WAIT to get in that booth with these Young Creatives to make a professional recording!! 🤯🤸‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🔥.

Let’s make some magic. 🎶✨

What our children hear matters. 🎵✨

Music influences mood, confidence, emotional wellness, creativity, and even how young people see themselves.

That's one reason I've loved creating the Voices of the Young Creatives.

We came together to write a song, but so much more happened in the process.

These young artists have been brainstorming, collaborating, sharing values, building confidence, learning music vocabulary, practicing self-expression, and creating something that belongs to them.

Let's be for real 😂...

Some of us don't even know what our children are listening to. 🙃

What we do know is that music influences how they think, feel, how they see themselves, and even how they move through the world. ✨

So what better way to empower young people than giving them the opportunity to create their own music???

This experience has supported creativity, confidence, teamwork, communication, emotional wellness, and self-expression. I've loved watching it happen in real time.

And now we're getting ready for our FINAL workshop before heading into the studio! 🤯🎙️

On August 29th, our young artists will be recording professionally at 4th Quarter Studios in Chesapeake, and this final workshop in July is where we'll be putting the finishing touches on everything we've created together.

We'll be:
✨ Practicing and rehearsing our lyrics
✨ Adding final creative touches
✨ Celebrating everything we've accomplished
✨ Learning about music ownership and royalties
✨ Getting ready for the studio experience

If you've attended any of the workshops, I want to see you there.

If you've been thinking about coming, it's not too late. Pull up. Let's have some fun and finish strong. 💛
