Explore the process oil painting through the perspective of colour 🎨

The world is a jigsaw of colour and shape. Learn to see the connections and bring them to life on your canvas. ✨

Join @fowlerart Alex Fowler to learn oil painting in a course designed for beginners and improvers.
Starting this September 2026, you’ll explore still life and paint from a model, discovering how to read colour relationships and develop your own personal voice and style. As Charles Hawthorne said: “Painting is the mechanics of putting one spot of colour next to another. That’s the fundamental thing.”

Painting in Oils with Alex Fowler
12 weeks from September 8th
10am-4pm

“Still Life with Blue Jug and Cyclamen”

oil on canvas

32” x 30”
81 x 76 cm

available

Do DM me if you are interested in this painting, one from the archives, painted in 2015. The idea of the painting was to capture the extraordinary intensity of the violet/magenta cyclamen buds which set the key for the whole painting. The bridge table which belonged to my grandparents is still going strong, even if it hasn’t hosted a bridge game for a while!

“Still Life with Four Peaches”

33 x 51 cm

available

DM me if interested

Almost impossible to photograph. A painting of dark harmonies and repeated circles. I was thinking of Patrick Heron in a round about way.
