The cocktail cabinet of my dreams! Aldi had Chateauneuf du Pape and Chablis on special offer so that's our Christmas day sorted! They also had Limoux Blanquette for just over £7. It's a fab fizz alternative and I first had it years ago when we stayed in a chateau near Carcassonne. Give it a try...you can thank me later 😄

A winters walk along the coast at Arnside. Such a beautiful and peaceful area, with stunning views, less than an hours drive from our village. #blessed #lancashiregem #englishcoastline #peaceandquiet #daytripping #granddayout #lovewhereyoulive taken in Arnside by @fox.cottage

Had a wonderful day out at Lytham where the hall is dressed for Christmas. Their theme this year is based on the books of Charles Dickens. Each room was like a stage set and the attention to detail was superb. This Christmas tree, in the Balmoral room, was fascinating as it was copied from a painting of the first ever decorated tree at Balmoral (Prince Albert brought one over from Germany). It was fascinating that they cut the branches so there would be large gaps between the layers. I rather liked it! What do you think? A new trend? 😀 #christmastree #victorianchristmastree #queenvictoria #princealbert #charlesdickensbooks #granddayout #christmasbaubles taken in Lytham Hall by @fox.cottage

A trip out to Bradford to watch the fabulous musical Hairspray...so naturally had to pop in to the most beautifully situated bookshop in the North. The Wool Exchange is the most beautiful building with the ceiling being a special feature. It's a joy to be in a world of history and books combined. So, another Grand day out!

I actually spent 3yrs deciding on a colour for the lounge. I wanted class, elegance and longevity...and was worried about making a mistake! In the end a lovely interior designer came to my rescue and suggested Little Green Slaked Lime mid. And it works so well in a very long room that faces South at one end and North at the other (tricky!) I'd definitely recommend it.
The colour changes depending on the light and here it is with the snow reflecting against it.

We call this the "golden hour"...when the sun starts to set and reflects across the fields. One of nature's gifts. #goldenhour #yorkshiredales #godsowncountry #autumncolors #countrycottageliving #countrylife #slowliving #takeabeat taken in Yorkshire Dales by @fox.cottage
