In the deep dark lows of the teenage phase in August, I enrolled Kobe into the @thekennelclubuk Good Citizen Award. Whilst he could do all the things required for the Bronze award - he struggled to focus around other dogs. Although I wished that we were further on in our training, I also knew that to get further on you need to have a solid foundation.

We went back to the basics and built the focus round other dogs. This award should have been a breeze for Kobe and it was - he smashed it. Nonetheless, it was only Kobe and one other dog who passed the award on test night out of eight.

Kobe was the only dog to pass each section on first attempt and ended up being used as a stooge dog for the resits. So in fact he passed the test twice over. Winning this has also ignited a refreshed drive to keep going. So we’re going to start the Silver award in February and keep going with our gun dog training. Maybe one day we’ll add some gun dog rosettes to our collection 😂🤞🏼.

For now a little reset in the teen phase has done wonders for us 🥰.

Overall, he change colour depending on the light, as you can see from this riveting* selection of phone photos. Also, yes, this trend is actually kind of old now, but so is Kobe’s mother, so please excuse us whilst we live life at our own pace 😂. Some people don’t like curated feeds for being too perfect , some people think only posting the highlights is misleading - Kobe has been a challenging teenager but we’re mostly through that now and he is essentially just a very good dog, with the odd off day, which is fair enough. He really is such a well natured, soft soul, and I feel so grateful to have found him and provide a wee life for him.

*riveting experience not guaranteed.

A photo/video dump from our favourite place, The Cairngorms in the Scottish Highlands. The weather wasn’t great, Kobe’s mother had the sheer audacity to be tired on holiday, so she didn’t do as much photographing as she thought. Also some guy fed Kobe dog food because he couldn’t recall his own dog and, before I could stop him, gave his handful of kibble to Kobe. When I said noooo he has allergies the guy abruptly told me “it’s just dog food” yeah, containing chicken 😭. So then Kobe didn’t feel great and that was the holiday 😂. In between all of this we did lots of walking, lots of swimming and some Kobe crazy eye appeared for the highland sticks 🪵. Still, it was lovely to get away and be surrounded by trees and fresh air ✨.

No caption for this one because I basically adore this photo of Kobe and have no notes. If someone wants to caption it in the comments for me that would be lovely and most welcome.

I have been trying for ages to get a decent fern photo of Kobe. I’m not convinced this is THE fern photo I’m after but I’m having difficulty sourcing tall ferns for tall boy Kobe, so that they frame him. The highland wind also presented a number of challenges 😂, so this will do for now 🌿.

Loch Morlich, Cairngorms.

This was the first beach that Kobe ever experienced as a pup and he LOVED it. Those who have been will understand it’s a very special beach; with a Scot’s pine forest surrounding the shore and the mountains in the background but it’s also the highest sandy beach in the United Kingdom. Managed to snap this in between zoomies and if you’re wondering what he’s looking at it’s some tourists feeding the ducks, who were uncomfortably close to us, good boy Kobe for not running off to them! Had to include a close up of his sandy snout at the end 😂.

Won’t look Wednesday brought to you by Mr Serious, who is literally just sitting there watching a blue tit in the tree next to us. Why does he look so serious doing this though 🙃✨.

Here’s some Kobe lore for you that you definitely don’t need but are getting anyway… the little circle on his ear is an area of missing hair. He had a raised bit on his ear for a while and when I went to investigate it there was a scab that came away which unfortunately took the hairs from that bit with it. For a while it looked like I had hole punched the fur from his ear, then his girlfriend’s owner said it looked like one of those cool European one ear stud earrings but I don’t think Kobe needs to look anymore like a stud tbh 😂.

Kobe keeping a look out for the weekend 🔭. I used to call him Muchacho when he was a teenager but now we’re (mostly) out of that phase I do enjoy calling him Mi Chico 😂. Anyway here is my boy in a very September lore setting 🍂🍁✨

The way he looks like this but is actually such a soft, well natured, boy is unreal 😂. Is S’Autumn a thing? Not quite summer still but not quite autumn yet, these are my type of days 🧡🌅😍.

Did you swipe for blep or are you normal?

Look how wide his eyes are here 😂, I did a little oooohhhhhhhh build up before I called his name to get the retrieve and boy was he ready to take off 🚀.

Does anyone read these captions? Hello if you are, what would you have captioned this 🤷🏻‍♀️😂.
