From stroke recovery to a proposal! ๐Ÿ’ OT helped my patient regain the strength, coordination, and confidence to kneel, hold the ring, type his speech, and create a meaningful gift using his affected hand. This took a lot of planning and coordinating for so many parts but was so worth it! Stories like this are why occupational therapy matters. To see it all come togetherโ€ฆthere are no words. Through her hard work and dedicated rehabilitation with FOX physical therapist Tracy Blackstock, PT, DPT, MSPT, Carol progressed to walking independently with her rollator! Walking the dog. ๐Ÿ• Picking up after your pet. ๐Ÿ’ฉ These everyday tasks might seem simple, but for someone recovering from a stroke, they can present real challenges. Before introducing this simulation, Amanda Cable, OTD, OTR/L worked with her patient on foundational skills through smaller, progressive interventions. After assessing his abilities and readiness, she determined he was prepared for this next step in his therapy. These activities are performed in a controlled, supervised environment and tailored to the patientโ€™s individual abilities and goals. This video offers just a small glimpse into his individualized plan of care, with his occupational therapy team continuing to assess his readiness to safely return to these activities in everyday life. Occupational therapy isnโ€™t just about exercises. Itโ€™s about helping people return to the everyday activities that give their lives meaning, purpose, and independence.
