I've been wondering what Sabra Johnson, the winner of SYTYCD season 3, has been up to in Saigon, and what compelled her to move here in the first place.
Whatever the reason, boy am I glad she did :))

I've watched two of her shows.
The first, centered on love, was a truly beautiful emotional journey that kinda blew my mind.
The second, on the history of jazz, was an absolute delight, so much so that I'm making this feed post despite being the laziest person on IG 😂

Highly recommend you catch @eva_saigon's next show, whenever/whatever it may be ;)

Now, this also brings me to this marginally relevant story:

A little over a month ago, I signed up for a jazz class. If you know me, you'll know that I usually start new classes and physical hobbies solo because I don't really want to rely on anyone else for motivation, nor do I want to be anyone's crutch. Plus, I'd rather be the guinea pig before recommending something to people…

But this time I posted a close-friends-only story about the class, hoping to get some of my girlies to join.

It went from 2 people (me included) to nearly full capacity within a week.

The plot twist is that… NONE OF THAT was my doing :)))

Quite a few of my friends said they were keen (no pressure :P), but none have actually signed up yet.
As it turns out, the new people are from a musical community I've been curious about for a while, and I've never met any of them in the wild (unless you count watching them from the audience at that one production of RENT 😂).

It's a small, happy little coincidence.
I've always felt there's something inexplicable about how our energies intermingle here in Saigon… Maybe it's nothing, but I'd like to think that taking a leap toward something with genuine excitement, openness, and a little courage sometimes prompts the universe to move things (or people) closer to you as well? 🤷🏻

Anyway, this was a long, rambling one for a Sunday morning 🫣😜

I’ve walked by this beautiful little venue in Thao Dien for months, when it still looked like some AD’s empty kitchen.
I’ve wondered what it was, whether somebody was gonna move in, and if it was ever gonna open for guests.

Well, that day has come :)
It’s a damn fine matcha tea house. And it just so happens to be operated by people I simply adore.
