Part 16 | The Great Pyramids of Giza 🇪🇬

There are some places you've seen in photographs your entire life, but seeing them in front of you is something else entirely.

Exploring the Giza Plateau by camel was an experience I'll never forget.

And I was only getting closer…

Part 15 | The Great Pyramids of Giza 🇪🇬

Built during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty, roughly 4,500 years ago, the pyramids were monumental royal tombs. The Great Pyramid was built for King Khufu, while the other two major pyramids belong to Khafre and Menkaure.

The pyramids were also part of much larger funerary complexes, with temples, smaller subsidiary pyramids and burial grounds. These structures formed part of the ancient Egyptians' beliefs about death and the afterlife.

And here's something that puts their scale into perspective: the Great Pyramid originally stood about 146.5 metres tall and remained the tallest human-made structure in the world for approximately 3,800 years.

Four generations. Four hands. Alhamdulillah 🤍

So much history, so much love, and so many memories held between them.

I took this photograph knowing that time moves forward whether we're ready or not. That the people we love won't always be beside us, and that ordinary moments can become the ones we treasure most.

So here's to remembering. I'll remember the hands that came before mine, the hands that held mine, and the little hands that represent everything still to come. by @foxycharmz

Today, EXACTLY one year later (to the day), my stick is finally back in my hands. 🥹❤️

In October 2025, I completed the final stretch of the Amatola Trail in Hogsback, one of South Africa's toughest hiking trails.

Somewhere in the chaos of trying to help someone, I left behind a custom wooden trekking stick with my name burned into it. A stick that had helped me through a demanding adventure and would forever mark that chapter of my life.

For the longest time, I wondered if it was ever meant to find its way back to me. Today, I got my answer. ❤️

Amatola was one of the adventures that came before Kilimanjaro. And now, with my Kilimanjaro keepsake also expected to arrive this week, it feels like two significant chapters of my hiking journey are finding their way back to me.
