Paintings on the wall, one person standing still, another photograph made around them. Looking becomes part of the subject as much as the art itself.

The cliff catches the light with almost unreasonable intensity while the rest of the landscape appears content to disappear into shadow.

The best part of early morning is how slowly everything arrives: light on stone, colour in the sky, people in the distance. The bench was already waiting.

Built to accommodate people, photographed without any. The picnic shelter sits empty beneath the trees, its open doorways and sheltered benches waiting for a use that the surrounding forest has no reason to anticipate.

The wall stays still while everything else changes: one person, then five, then nobody. Street photography built from the same few metres of Melbourne.

The city leaves behind these strange threshold spaces where light feels too bright, walls carry too much memory, and the ordinary starts to feel slightly theatrical.

Melbourne provides an extraordinary number of ways to move through it while making very few promises about where any of them lead.

Old brick, concrete, glass and greenery occupying the same Melbourne corner without needing to agree with each other. But they do.

Walking through Melbourne, the background is already there. People enter the frame, occupy it for a moment, then keep moving.

Walking beneath the redwoods, their height and density make the forest feel almost inevitable. Then the repetition becomes visible: trunk after trunk in orderly rows, nature growing within a pattern somebody decided long ago.

Crowded streets, empty corridors, occupied rooms. Presence changes from one part of the city to the next.

Evening settles over Lysterfield Lake while birds move across the water and people pass through. The landscape carries on around them.
