Viking Jump ! by Aymeric BageĢ€s "Hello everyone ! Iā€™m thrilled to share with you my latest project, based on the amazing concept art by @michaelrelth ! This is a very special one for me: I actually started adapting this character design 10 years ago. Even though I put it on hold, it was always at the back of my mind. Coming back to it now felt like the perfect opportunity to push myself further with up-to-date tools. For this project, I wanted to explore two different pipelines: rendering using Maya & Arnold and real-time in Unreal Engine. Achieving visual consistency in Unreal Engine was a real challenge. Crocodile by @efka.jpg "To stay as true as possible to the original design, I chose to create this character asymmetrically from the start and also to create each scale one by one to achieve the most organic result possible (Yes, I know, I was being a bit of a masochist there). Iā€™d always wanted to create a reptile in ZBrush, and it was when I came across Greg Baldwinā€™s concept that I fell in love with the idea. What if I made a cartoon crocodile with a "realistic" look ? Thatā€™s where the real challenge of the project lay. Creating something believable that stayed true to the original design, whilst retaining the essence of an animal characterised by scales arranged in a very specific way. So I had to make artistic and technical choices to find the right balance, even if it meant spending a lot of time on it. As you can imagine, this project was a real challenge and Iā€™m proud to be able to present it to you today !" Love at first punch and "First catch!" by @phoerens_art Animation: "I'm so happy with this animated shot ! I made the environment, lighting, and clothe/hair fx. The boy is a character I had already made. The characters were animated by Cassidy Johnson, the rig of the boy by Trystan Bleuven, and the girl is from Lupin House." Poliwag shots: "Now that I made this autoportrait of mine, I have a lot of ideas to use him ! My very first 3D models were Pokemons... But they were really ugly haha. Now that I'm gaining experience and learning a lot, I can finally start to have fun and create some environments, context and scenes for my characters. I'm really proud of this series. BigBara by @camillepapin_ "EN : Hi everyone! šŸ‘‹ Iā€™m very glad to present one of the projects Iā€™m most proud of: BigBara! Itā€™s a hyena I created during my latest 4th-year workshop at Creative Seeds. I wanted to design a hyena that could fit into a Lion King movie if it had been made as a 3D animated film. To achieve this, I was obviously inspired by The Lion King, but also by Zootopia. This project was quite challenging for me, as Iā€™m not yet fully comfortable with design. Fortunately, I quickly found a design that I really liked. I also had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of grooming, and since this is only my second time doing it, it really confirms how much I enjoy it!
