Hi, I’m Ewelina, the person behind the frames.

I’ve been taking photos since I was nine, but I never learned photography in the traditional sense.
No photography school. No lessons in composition or framing. For a long time, I simply photographed things because something about them made me stop.

And maybe that taught me something different.

To look beyond the obvious. To notice what is happening beside the thing everyone else is looking at. To give ordinary scenes a second look.

I’m still learning the technical side, and I probably always will be.

But if sharing the way I photograph makes someone pick up a camera, look at an ordinary street differently or notice something they would normally walk past, I’d love that.

Maybe you don’t always need to know what you’re looking for.
Sometimes you just need to keep looking 🎞️
Nice to meet you🤍

📌Next time something makes you look twice, photograph it. Even if you don’t know why yet.

If café chairs were people, I think they’d have very different personalities☺️

There would be the regular who always sits in the same place. The observer in the corner. Someone who only planned to stay for one coffee and is somehow still there two hours later.

And probably one chair that knows absolutely everything that has ever happened in that café😄

Maybe that’s part of what I like about cafés. Even when the tables are empty, they never really feel empty.

🪑Which café-chair personality are you?

Maybe not everything that scares us
is telling us to turn around.

Fear is strange.

Sometimes it protects us. And sometimes it simply shows up because we’re about to do something we’ve never done before.
I think the difficult part is knowing the difference.

Not every uncomfortable feeling means don’t go there.
Not every hesitation means this isn’t for you.

Sometimes we need a moment. Sometimes we need to turn around. And sometimes we’re more ready than we think.
Maybe being scared and wanting to do it anyway can exist at the same time.

Sometimes fear is just standing at the beginning of something I haven’t experienced yet.

🌉What’s something you were scared to do, but were glad you did anyway?

One of those days I didn’t want to rush.

I spent a lot of time just walking through the forest, stopping here and there, looking at things that probably wouldn’t have seemed important on another day.

The light through the trees.
Plants growing beside the path.
Old roots disappearing into the ground.

I think that’s what I remember most about that day. Not one particular place or one particular photograph. Just having nowhere else I needed to be for a while.

A place to slow down. To look around. To simply be here☺️🌳

🌼What kind of place makes you slow down without even trying?

FOLLOWING THE LIGHT...
The light was the first thing I noticed that afternoon.

It kept appearing between the trees, disappearing again, and turning completely ordinary parts of the forest into something I wanted to photograph.

A few plants beside the path.
The roots of an old tree.
Small patches of the forest floor.

I wasn’t really looking for subjects. I just kept noticing whatever the light touched next.

And that’s probably why I came home with so many completely different photographs from one simple forest walk.

Same forest. Different little moments☺️

🌳What usually makes you stop on a walk, light, colour, a tiny detail, or something completely different?

SKYWALK...665 metres long. Almost 100 metres above the valley.

The bridge stretches across the valley with the forest underneath and the Mühlenkopfschanze right beside it. And the further I walked, the more the perspective changed — until everything below started looking rather small.

I think that was my favourite part. Not simply crossing the bridge, but stopping every now and then and looking at the landscape from somewhere I would normally never be standing.

And yes… I took a lot of photos along the way☺️📷

🌉Would you walk all 665 metres?

SAME EVENING. DIFFERENT MOMENTS...

I didn’t know these would become the moments I’d want to keep.
At the time, it was just an evening by the sea. I walked around, watched the light change, took photos and stayed a little longer than I probably needed to.

Nothing happened that would make this an important day but every few minutes it looked different. Sometimes the sun was sparkling on the water, then everything turned softer, and a little later I was standing there almost completely in silhouette.

A few minutes you didn’t think much about at the time.

And then months or years later, one photo brings it all back.
Not just what it looked like.
What it felt like to be there.

✨️Do you also come home with completely different photos from the same evening?

I was sitting right next to the sea.
An entire sea.

And somehow my camera ended up pointing at surfboards, tables, chairs and all the little details around the restaurant instead😄

This happens to me all the time.
I can love the big view and still get completely distracted by the things around it.

La Playa sits right by the beach in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer,
I love places like this, where the surroundings become part of the atmosphere and suddenly there are photographs everywhere.

Sometimes that’s actually my favourite part of taking photos, not knowing what will catch my eye until it does.

Maybe photography isn't always about finding the best view.
Sometimes it's about noticing what pulls your eyes away from it.

The sea was beautiful, by the way🌊😉
I did eventually look at it again😄

🌊What would have distracted you first here, the sea or all the little details?

📌Save this as a reminder that the subject you came for doesn’t always become the subject you photograph.

People built this almost 2,000 years ago.
8️⃣↔️
That's probably the thought I had most while photographing the Pont du Gard.
It was built by the Romans as part of an aqueduct carrying water towards Nîmes, and the highest section rises almost 50 metres above the Gardon River.

I came here expecting to photograph an impressive piece of architecture. But standing underneath it, the scale became much more interesting than the postcard view.

I photographed the whole structure, the arches, the stone, the view through it and all the smaller details, but I don't think a photograph can quite explain the scale of standing underneath it😊

Sometimes architecture isn't interesting because it's beautiful. It's interesting because it makes you wonder how it was even possible.

Which would you photograph first, the whole structure or the details?

📌Save this for your next photography trip through southern France.

Markets are one of those places where I never really know what I’m going to photograph.
🔟↔️
The colours change from one stall to the next.
People stop, talk and move on.
Hands reach for fruit.
Someone rearranges a display.
There are handwritten signs, old crates, flowers, food and a hundred little things happening at once.

And somewhere in between all of that, there are photographs.
These are a few that caught my eye.

Somewhere along the way, photography changed the way I look at places.

Meanwhile, I’m standing across the street photographing an old sign, a faded petrol pump or a vending machine that has probably been there longer than I have😄

6↔️
I don’t even know exactly what it is about these things.
Maybe it’s the colours.
Maybe it’s the signs of age.
Maybe it’s because they feel like little pieces of another time.

I just know that when something like this catches my eye, there’s a very good chance I’m stopping for a photo.
And probably taking five versions of it.

Please tell me this isn’t just me😄

What’s something completely ordinary that you always get excited about photographing?

📌Save this for the next time someone asks why on earth you’re photographing that.

You put one of Europe’s most impressive medieval buildings in front of me…

…and apparently I’m still going to get distracted by the garden😄🤭

The Palais des Papes is obviously impossible to ignore, but this is exactly what happens when I explore somewhere with a camera.
The famous thing gets photographed.

And then the flowers, the trees, the little corners and whatever else caught my eye get photographed approximately 27 times.

No regrets😉

What would distract you first, the palace or the garden? 😄

📌Save this for your fellow easily distracted camera people.
