I am Francis.

Inter alia, I'm an independent scholar formerly associated with Stellenbosch University from 2022-2025, where I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development (Cum Laude), and then did two years Masters research on the entanglement of societal collapse, the Gaza genocide, technofascism, and Generative AI.

I published my research in an unconventional format: a 411-page "thesis-to-come" that is, by design, sprawling, incomplete, still-in-process, rhizomatic, labyrinthine, and contains numerous mini-books within it that document my decolonial cocreative cosmotechnical praxis of "counter-capturing" LLMs, meaning, realigning to think using process-relational ontology and to reorganize its axiology (value system) around the objective of Global South liberation.

My research extends into an "appendix ecosystem" with over 10,000 pages of research notes, and may be among the most extensively referenced collections of research on global complicity in the Gaza genocide in existence today.

My research also represents the most comprehensive attempt to develop a leftist decolonial theoretical account of contemporary generative AI that I am aware of.

I have read a vast amount of literature on AI (hundreds of journal articles). I haven't encountered any other academic who has done something similar to me. It is entirely novel research, and in my view, with competent and sympathetic examiners, should have earned me a PhD.

Sadly, my examiners were neither competent nor sympathetic; complaining I hadn't kissed the ass of their favourite academics, ignoring my substantive arguments, and trying to frame me as crackpot; despite having 1000+ references.

Post-publication, I have discovered that at least two other academics have also independently developed a concept of necrocapitalism, following distinct but interrelated logic converging on systemic collapse, carcerality, and commodification of death.

الممثلة الأمريكية " أنجلينا جولي " وصلت للجانب المصري من معبر رفح، تحدثت عن معاناة أهل غزة، طالبت بوقف إطلاق النار، بمساعدات وأدوية ووقود.

لكن السؤال الذي يوجعنا في غزة هو:

أين أنتم؟
أين أصوات الفنانين العرب؟
أين المطربين والمشاهير؟
أين الوجوه التي تملأ شاشاتنا كل يوم؟
وأين القادة العرب مما عاناه ويعانيه أكثر من 2 مليون إنسان في غزة؟

نحن لا نطلب المستحيل، ولا نطلب منكم حمل السلاح ودخول غزة.
نطلب فقط موقف، كلمة، صوت، تضامن حقيقي مع شعب عربي يُباد أمام عيون العالم.

I took a face plant while running on the mountain about a month ago and sprained my ankle. While it didn't feel thaaat bad at the time, aging is a bitch and it's taking ages to heal 🥲 really sucks as I had just been getting back into the regular exercise regime that has kept me somewhat sane the last few years.

Anyway, I was feeling majorly couped up so went for a slow but longish walk up to Table Mountain and across to Newlands Forest. It was super pretty and nice being in nature despite lacking the endorphin boost of running. Took a spliff and a sandwich to eat by the river in the forest. It was pretty chill and good to get out of the city for a couple of hours. by @franarchism
