🔸 My thanks to Sam, Jeff and Grace of @audio.foundation for welcoming me in for the winter residency & tech assistance. This place is vital for the creative spirit. @francescaparussini @tashi.noise @ryantomov it was a privilege to do this with you. Each session was met with such charm and skill. @sacredclowns thanks for your expertise in canvas stretching and jovial support.
Liking the conversations this installation is stirring about, dm if you want to catch up & walk through w me.

🔸

During August and September, I invited three musicians, Ryan Tomov, Francesca Parussini and Tashi Stewart, to visit individually and improvise in sequential solo recordings. Musicians were tasked with adding to what their predecessor had made of their time in session. With each round, the layers of sound deepened in tandem with the painting. Between visits, I turned to sculptural form to further consider retention.

More orchestra, you keep saying. More orchestra, you scream!! And we have so much more orchestra for you. Tim is back playing cello with us, and we also have day one veteran Nathan playing violin! Fran will be doubling on saxophone and flute, as well as refreshing the arrangement for Mainard Larkin’s “Rattlesnake Boy”. And we’re welcoming first time member Alex on the tuba! Less than two weeks now, don’t miss out! by @francescaparussini

If u got it this far…. Been an odd year. So much good, lots of sad too. Great gigs, a friend that disappeared, a dying cat, a married brother, orbiting around drama, stress induced health issues, new friendships, love, great teachers, shifting, graduating…. Etc. Couldn’t have got through some of those tougher moments without my fam and friends, and esp my partner. Love you all. by @francescaparussini

The year is nearing an end and I’m in a reflective mood…. I’ve played some pretty cool gigs and this was defs a highlight :))

In the heart of Tāmaki, at @aesiummusichouse

We raised more than funds. We raised a little hope.

Grateful we got to finish together :,) by @francescaparussini

Some shots from a really special Gaza relief aid 🇵🇸 fundraiser event hosted and organised by @aesiummusichouse.

Me and @francescaparussini took on the challenge of getting together and arranging/improvising some duo saxophone antics in the space. Was extremely fun and challenging in the best way 😊 . (Bonus I got to put my pedal chops to the test infront of a large audience for the first time!) 🎷⚡️🤓

I am extremely grateful for the Tamaki musical and creative community. There are so many smart, talented, creative, caring people, and I feel lucky to be a part of it.
