物事人非/The Images Refuse to Settle （2025)
The Images Refuse to Settle is an ongoing project and a variant of The River of Memory. Using family photographs and overhead projection, the work re-situates personal images within domestic spaces, where they appear across different rooms and surfaces.
Rather than reconstructing the original home, the project explores how memory persists even when the place it belongs to no longer exists. Emulsion lift images, suspended in water and set into motion, resist stability, while projections extend them into new environments where they are continuously altered by light, air, and surrounding conditions.
As these images move through unfamiliar spaces, memory does not remain intact. It shifts, disperses, and re-emerges in fragments, lingering in corners, surfaces, and atmospheres.
The work proposes memory not as a fixed site, but as something that persists through displacement and continual transformation. by @francisch24

Introducing Francis Chiang (@francisch24) Parsons MFA Photo 2026

Francis Chiang (b. 1998, Taipei) is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York. He received his B.A. in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley, and is currently an MFA candidate in Photography at Parsons School of Design. He seeks to rediscover the meaning of time by reintroducing real, lived duration into the world of images, inviting viewers to experience slowness again. Themes of time, consumerism, and perception recur throughout his practice, serving as a quiet resistance to the accelerated pace and dominant values of contemporary society. His work has been shown widely, with selected venues including Sonic Sensory Lab, Taiwan; Decode Gallery, Arizona; Photoville Festival, Brooklyn; Jaipur Art Week, India; and Pingyao International Photography Festival, China. taken in Parsons School of Design by @francisch24
