François-Eloi Lavignac (he/him) is a French choreographer, dancer and independent artist based in Vienna. Born in Limoges and raised in Brive-la-Gaillarde, he moved to Paris at the age of 15 to train at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Danse de Paris, before completing his studies at the English National Ballet School in London.

François began his professional dancing career with the Australian Ballet in 2013, where he rose through the ranks to the rank of coryphée, before joining the Wiener Staatsballett as a demi-soliste from 2020 to 2025.

In 2025, he left the world of institutional ballet to devote himself to independent performance. He took part in the Huggy Bears programme in Vienna, where he presented his first solo piece, Fifth Position, at brut Wien in November 2025. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Middlesex University in London.

This transition stems from a desire to explore the effects of the institution on intimacy. François’s work focuses on technique as a vehicle for individual and collective memory. @if_italia @franclavi @kulturfactory @kultursciok François-Eloi is hosted at Kulturfactory as part of the Nouveau Grand Tour residency programme, led by the Institut français Italia.
