A quick run through of a new song (that is still not recorded), with Heather while we did the setup for a live concert video recording. I truly love and care for the people in this video so much. I am so thankful for being surrounded by incredible humans and friends who I get to work alongside on music and putting together creative projects.

🎶A little while ago, my longtime college friend Justin Gray invited me to help with some lyrics and vocal parts for “Illuminate,” a track on his immersive album, ‘Immersed’. 🎙️Aphrose and Joanna Majoko brought such beautiful magic to it with their voices. It means a great deal to share that Justin’s album has now been nominated for a Grammy. If you’re part of the Academy, please consider Immersed for your vote.

The eighth and final piece on Immersed is called Illuminate.

Full 🎥 🔗 in Bio ⬆️

The song’s message is carried in the lyrics at the end of the piece, co-written with my dear friend @francoisklark, and sung by Francois, @itsjoannamajoko and @aphrosemusic It’s the only time lyrics appear on the album, expressing the sentiment:

“I know, and you know, together we all can find a way.
To be the light for each other, illuminate.”

This piece carries a sense of gratitude and optimism, guided by the belief that music has the power to uplift and unify.

Illuminate is a long-form, through-composed work that evolves through three main sections.

The final section is written to surround the listener with layers of voices placed deliberately across the spatial field in @dolbylabs Atmos.

Sometimes we write for a specific project, sometimes we write with a specific direction, and sometimes we write so that our soul feels nourished.
