Here’s the honest truth.

My mother and I have hurt each other before…plenty of times😭

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THESE VIDEOS😂
We are complete opposites.
I am loud where she is quiet.
I express what I feel is a very expressive way
And she does it in a very gentle way…(sometimes🙃😂)

I move fast.
She moves carefully.

And because of that, we’ve had moments where it felt like we were speaking two completely different languages while living in the same house.

We’ve argued over things that probably sounded small to everyone else…
but to a mother and her son, even small things can cut really really deep.

There were moments I thought,
“How can someone who loves me so much misunderstand me this badly?”

But the older I get…
the more I realize my mother was teaching me something through every disagreement we survived.

Love is was never meant to be proven by the absence of tension.
Love is proven by what remains during and after the tension.

Because no matter how frustrated we got with each other…

she stayed.

Even when I was difficult.
Even when I misunderstood her intentions.
Even when my pride was loud…(and yes it can me loud😭)
Even when our house felt heavy with silence.

She stayed.

Even when I wanted nothing to do with her.

She stayed.

I realized the reason I know how to love people through conflict…

Is because my mother loved me through mine.

When I was jacked up

She loved me

She taught me that love is not walking away the second things become uncomfortable.

Love is choosing people even after the argument.
Even after the disappointment.
Even after the tears.
My mother gave me a picture of unconditional love long before I understood Gods unconditional love.

And now when tension rises between me and the people I love…
when friendships get hard…
when family hurts each other…
when relationships feel strained…

there’s a part of me that refuses to leave immediately.

Because somewhere deep inside of me is the memory of a woman who kept loving me on days I was not easy to love.

Happy Mother’s Day to my momma,

To my first love ❤️🫂 taken in Boston, Massachusetts by @franerickwrites

Seasons don’t ask for your permission to change. And neither does growth. And neither does God.
You can always feel it coming. You can always feel the shift. It’s almost like something stirring on the inside of you that won’t let you stay comfortable where you are. It’s the most FRUSTRATING feeling in the WORLD TO ME😤😤…because knowing a new season is near but and stepping into it… are two different things entirely😭

Because it’s petrifying

Chasing what you’re called to is not this bold, easy, smooth walk down a clear path. It’s actually you standing at the edge of everything you’ve been dreaming about and feeling your legs shake. It’s knowing this is the direction…and still hesitating. Still wondering if you’re ready. Still asking what if I’m wrong about this.

But then you step in

And something happens that you can’t fully explain in detail because it’s all still foreign to you. The best way I can describe it is a flow. A focus. A feeling like….oh. This is what I was made for. And let me make this ABUNDANTLY clear …. THE FEAR DOESN’T DISAPPEAR….but it does stop being louder than the calling. You stop performing and start becoming. And everything in you that felt out of place suddenly starts to align.
That’s how you know.
Not because it’s easy. Not because there’s no resistance. But because even in the hard, it feels like home. Even in the stretch, it feels like purpose.
God doesn’t call you into a new season to leave you confused in it. He shifts you into what He already prepared for you.
So if you’re standing at the edge right now…afraid to step in…just know. The flow is waiting on the other side of the fear.
So I advise that you just step in.

Healing isn’t just about feeling better… it’s about becoming whole.

Because you can feel better and still be fractured in places you refuse to face.
You can smile, show up, be consistent, even be “strong”… and still be carrying wounds that were never actually healed…but learned how to manage.

Real healing isn’t surface-level relief…that was never the goal

It goes into the parts of you you tried to skip.
The conversations you avoided.
The pain you buried under the ground and called “moving on.”

We just learn to confront the pain we love to hide from ourselves

We must rebuild what pain tried to rename about us.

So we have to stop striving for “I feel okay.”
Because “okay” can still be hiding.

And start fighting for “I am whole.”

Because wholeness means there is no part of you that has to live in hiding anymore…
no wounds you have to cover,
no truths you have to suppress,
no versions of you you feel the need to apologize for.

Wholeness is when everything you are…
even what you once tried to bury…
can finally stand in the light without fear.
