This peacock jumping spider was creating a nest between 2 leaves...the flash couldn't quite get in there so the shot stayed pretty dark. Editing brought out the details!

Found this three lined potato beetle resting on a half eaten leaf that made a nice natural frame! These potato beetles feed on leaves, and are particularly fond of leaves in the nightshade family, of which potato leaves are a part of, which is where they get their name from!

Could have really easily missed this as it was very well camouflaged and 2-3mm long! Planthopper nymphs like these produce strings of thin wax behind them and it's thought to be a defence mechanism against predators!

Finally caught weaver ants feeding each other. Few species will engage in adult to adult direct feeding. In a lot of other species it tends to occur as a social bonding process or as part of courtship, but here it's purpose is to ensure that everyone in the colony gets fed and can do their job!

With their spiky, hairy bodies, these Echinopla ants (also known as spiky or hairy ants) can look a bit like velvet ants, but there’s a big difference! Velvet ants are actually wingless female wasps, whereas Echinopla are true ants. Their armour-like bumpy appearance makes them look almost prehistoric, and like other ants, they use chemical signals to communicate and coordinate their colony’s activities.

One of Malaysia’s most impressive insects, the Malayan jungle nymph is also officially recognised as the world’s heaviest stick insect species! The heaviest reliably recorded specimen was a female kept at London Zoo in 1977, weighing an incredible 51.2g. Females are much bulkier than males and use their leaf-green colouring to blend into rainforest foliage. Despite their intimidating spines, they’re herbivores, feeding mainly on leaves. When threatened, they can raise their spiny hind legs as a defence!
