Friends since my first job out of college and she didn’t even invite me to her wedding. @gladonthegram and I traveled for the FIRST time ever to LA! Our birthdays are a week apart and so…why not. This much time together, we were able to sync our vibes, talk in our secret language and just be bitches. @littlejoetv 50th Burfday in Vegas. Our brothers trip concluded in Sin City at @circalasvegas so my bros could watch sports poolside and I could gawk at the hot guys. Having been to Vegas many times our first night, I wanted to experience a more local flavor of Vegas by partying off-strip w bars in the @artsdistrictlv and having an excellent burger at @holsteinslv. The French Onion burger was an exquisite masterclass in burger craft. I was able to check an item off my life bucket list by doing a shot-ski at @vikingmikes. Our second and final night was more refined with us putting on pants and heading to @hardshakebar at the Waldorf Astoria for a pre dinner cocktail. When making the cocktail resy, I didn’t even realize it came w a view of the strip! We then moved to Park MGM for the highly rated steak at @bavettessteakhouse. Put a fork in us we were done. Hike 4: the Narrows. Only an insane person would hike Angels Landing AND the Narrows on the same day. Hi, I/we are the insane people. About a mile hike to get to the river and then the river becomes the trail. You walk IN the river. The water was about ankle to shin deep and kinda cold. Mike brought us walking sticks from home so we didn’t need to rent ones. Since it was our last hike of the trip, we said fuck it let’s just hike in our shoes (as opposed to renting water proof shoes) water and all. It takes longer than you think due to the various rocks you can’t see below the water line. Hike 3: Angels Landing at Zion National Park. Wouldn’t have been mad if I didn’t win the permit lottery on my first try…but WE GOT THE ANGELS LANDING PERMIT!! We woke up at zero dark hundred, walked to the park in darkness and waiting for the shuttle to take us to the trailhead. We hiked about an hour or so before getting to the chains section/Angels Landing. No railings, no large walkways, only a sliver of ledge to walk on, ON THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN and METAL CHAIN BOLTED TO THR MOUNTAIN TO HOLD ON TO!! Suuuuuuper anxious, suuuuuuper scary but I kept my focus looking down at where my feet were going and maintaining a constant grip on the chain. Joe and Mike seemed to have a better grip no pun intended on the hike up whereas I just needed to focus on getting to the top so I could calm down and then finally enjoy the view. Took us about 4.5 hours or so round trip. glad to have done it but I will not be doing that again. We did it! Hike 2: Bryce Canyon National Park, Hoo Doo You Love?! Our 30 ft RV was not allowed to park at Sunrise Point starting at 8am, so we got on the trail at 6am and pleaded ignorance afterwards. Oh well. We hiked the HooDoos taking the Navajo Loop and Queens Garden Trail. With Bryce everything was a hike down from the upper rim. Lots of views and vistas while driving thru the park. Hike 1: Arches National Park. We started the first hike of the trip before sunrise in complete darkness. A long steady climb, with an elevation gain of approximately 500 feet, Delicate Arch was absolutely breathtaking. What a pay off! After tons of pictures, the Little brothers jumped back into the RV and head out to hike the Windows Loop, consisting of the North and South windows and Turret Arch and then Double Arch. Two years in the making. Planning, permitting, researching, analyzing trails, reviewing mileage numbers, elevation, how long of a hike. Zion’s Angels Landing is no joke. It is basically straight up, no railings. The last 30 minutes was spent cliff side where chains bolted into the rock were the only thing to hold on to. Once at the top, just by coincidence, I looked at my phone to see the time. 9:11. With a group of about 20 or so hikers from the US and abroad, I asked us to honor those lost on 9/11 with a moment of silence.
