A little drawing of Herbert Hoover as a fallen angel in stained glass. I originally was going to make this more art deco, but I wanted to incorporate Hoover’s religiosity into this piece. Plus, I felt inspired by the Lincoln stained glass pieces included in this post! It’s interesting to see Hoover’s “fall from grace” as the Great Humanitarian during WWI to the man blamed for letting the Great Depression spiral out of control. I feel bad for him, but he also had it coming when he insisted on not intervening 🫢 Regardless, his story is very very fascinating… I’d love a miniseries about his rise from orphan, to mining engineer in the Australian outback, to international icon (and eventual disgrace). -#herberthoover#stainedglass#digitalart#presidentialhistory#illustration#vintageillustration by @frankidacre

Herbert Hoover: Secretary of Commerce, and Undersecretary of Everything Else!-Hi everyone thank you for being patient with me as I’ve gone down the Hoover rabbit hole these last few days. It’s actually crazy how much he did as Secretary of Commerce, from regulating radio, to fishing, to aviation, to traffic, to product standardization… he really was a dynamo!! I think it IS ironic that he was called the Master of Emergencies at one point.
