Another year down 🎂 (and a day late). I feel a vividness to life lately. It’s hard to put into words how numb I’ve been the last few years, especially this last one. how much I discarded my health to cope with it. How art music film etc all started to lose their meaning to me, bc my emotions could only hit a shallow depth in response to them. It’s amazing how disillusionment, a seemingly bad thing, can give you an opportunity to question the perspectives you’ve been living within on autopilot. Sometimes they’re false, sometimes they just don’t line up with who you are anymore. That’s the cool things about growing. It’s not that life is happy go lucky; it’s just nice to feel things deeply again (even the ones that don’t feel good), to take care of myself again, to enjoy raw insignificant moments again. To approach chance rather than hide in safety. I’m alive. Theres a lot I want to do. I’m thankful I’m still here to try. by @frankjrehak

Sometimes there’s a bittersweet melancholy after wrapping a film that involves so many genuinely cool people, some living as far as the west coast. It’s a pocket of time with fast bonds, and then the uncertainty of when you’ll cross paths again. It’s a privilege to feel it. What better reminder is there that I was a part of something worth living. Thank you @phi_poet Emily Quezada and @lukeingcreative for bringing me into the Xero family. To the cast and crew, y’all brought out the best in me. by @frankjrehak

I often have a hard time feeling like I’ve made any progress in what I pursue, but 2024 had a decent landmark. I won my first award for best cinematography at the Greensboro 48 Hour Film Festival. You write, shoot, and edit a film within 48 hours. Trust me it’s not Sundance. The films turn out messy, you don’t sleep and it’s stressful, but I’m proud of what @ghostlight_films and I made under pressure. We’re currently reworking it from the ground up into a longer short film. Here’s some stills I did a quick color grade on. by @frankjrehak
