Our first Fall 2026 Academic Travel photos are in, straight from Frankfurt! 🇩🇪📸

One of Europe's leading financial hubs, where Professor David Suleiman took his Personal Finance students to experience the world of finance firsthand.

🏦 From visiting the @europeancentralbank and attending expert lectures at the @deutsche.bundesbank to exploring cryptocurrencies at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and testing their financial literacy at the Money Museum, students got a closer look at how finance works in the real world.

And that's what Academic Travel at Franklin is all about!

✈️ Every semester, our students take an academic course that includes travel, connecting what they learn on campus with real places, people, and industries. Sometimes, even the places where they might work one day!

Does this sound like your kind of university experience?

✨ There's still time to join us for Spring 2027! Apply by November 15 through the link in bio.

A special guest, all the way from Australia! 🇦🇺🧠

Our psychology students recently welcomed Dr. Jennifer Long, a psychiatrist and researcher from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, for two guest lectures organized by our Nora McNeely Hurley Assistant Professor of Psychology, Dr. Heidi Toivonen.

From understanding how clinical trials work to exploring research on depression and alternative therapies, students got to hear directly from someone who works in both clinical practice and academic research.

And the conversations went beyond psychology textbooks, bringing in perspectives from literature, philosophy, and real clinical experience 📚

❤️ Thank you, Dr. Long, for sharing your expertise with our students, and thank you, Heidi, for bringing such an interesting guest into the classroom!

October at Franklin means one thing: Academic Travel! ✈️

For the next two weeks, our students are swapping their usual classrooms for destinations around the world ❤️

Imagine studying finance in Frankfurt's financial district, exploring history where it happened, or learning about sustainability by experiencing different environments firsthand.

That's what learning beyond the classroom can look like.

And the best part? It's not a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It's part of your degree.

🌎 Two trips a year, every year.
👀 8–10 days of travel each semester.
🎓 Real-world learning that earns academic credit.

From Iceland to Italy, Japan to Costa Rica, and beyond.

Want to know how it all works? Our student Siya Shah has you covered! 🫶

What can 19th-century diplomacy tell us about the world today? 🌍📚

Quite a lot, as we discovered during a conversation with Dr. Giorgio Ennas and Dr. Ariane Mottale at Franklin!

Presenting Dr. Ennas's book, Italo-Ottoman Relations in the Age of the Congress of Paris: Mirroring the ‘Other’, 1856–1871, they explored how Italy and the Ottoman Empire navigated diplomacy, cultural identity, and their place in a changing international order.

Thank you to Giorgio and Ariane for sharing their work with our community ❤️

What if college helped you figure out not just what you’re good at, but what you actually love doing? 👀

At Franklin, preparing for your future is about more than getting a degree. It’s about discovering your strengths, understanding what motivates you, and figuring out where you want to go next.

That’s what our Pathway Program, led by Justine Salam, Associate Dean for Career Readiness, is all about.

Recently, students took a skills self-assessment to explore their abilities, interests, and motivations. And the feedback? They came away with a better understanding of themselves and a clearer idea of how to plan their futures ❤️

It took five mines for him to make a dollar. ⛏️

Dr. Waldo Perez has spent nearly three decades exploring more than 100 mineral prospects, discovering some of the world’s largest lithium deposits, and leading three publicly traded companies.

But for our latest Meet the Manager, he took our students behind the success, through the setbacks, lessons, and persistence it took to get there.

His biggest takeaway? “One hundred times may not be enough.”
Thank you, Dr. Perez, for sharing the journey with us, and to Anastasia Nicolenco, Logan Day, Pratik Poudel, and Katie Wickersham from Next in Management for making it happen, with the support of Professor Tatiana Balushkina. 💛

This is what a Wednesday afternoon looked like at Franklin last week ⚽️

Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors met on the field for a friendly charity soccer tournament, while the rest of the community came along to cheer, hang out, listen to music, and support the Boki Mamiko bake sale.

Boki Mamiko has been part of Franklin for years, bringing students together around a shared commitment to giving back and supporting charitable causes. 🤍

It’s one of those little things that comes with studying at an American university in Switzerland and living on a residential campus, sometimes, a regular Wednesday just ends like this 🇨🇭⚽️

More than 700 students, three institutions and one very good start to the academic year 🎉

For the first time, Franklin Switzerland joined @usiuniversity and @supsi_ch in organizing YOUniversity, Beyond Studies Party, bringing Ticino’s university communities together at East Campus.

With BarNüm setting the scene, the evening featured student DJ sets, food, creative activities, XXL games and student associations, including our @sga.franklin, @fus.greenoffice and MMA Club.

The night also introduced the first-ever YOUniversity Games: five teams entered, and the Franklin Warriors brought home the trophy 🏆

A big thank you to USI, SUPSI, @rsibarnum, the Corporazione studentesca, all the participating associations and everyone who made the night happen. See you next year! 💜
