Deer in the Works 🦌

Working on anything video game related has been a childhood dream for me. Yet it’s always been so far away due to a severe lack in game development skills or expertise, it’s always felt like such an out of reach achievement for me.

However when AFTRS tasked our cohort with producing a 5 minute documentary that will potentially be released to SBS, I jumped at the opportunity to be able to hopefully highlight an independent video game made within Australia.

That’s when me and @frannwaz found Ant Tan @sweet_dawg. We first met him at SXSW Sydney and instantly knew that not only his game was a gorgeous display of artistry and technical prowess, but represented him as a person that I personally haven’t found in the hundreds of games I’ve played in my life.

So between October last year and July this year, our production team and Ant spent a lot of time getting to know Ant and the story behind his beautiful game ‘Way to the Woods’. @waytothewoodsgame

I hope everyone will eventually be able to watch the final product when it hopefully is picked up by SBS for its short documentary film program next year, for now here are a couple of stills from both the documentary and the game that I enjoy a lot. And a big thank you to everyone who helped bring this documentary and story to life.
