Such a delight to step into this new phase of life with more clarity & drive than ever.

To celebrate this new age, I'd like to solicit your support, through donations, for the community development work by @lilgiftedhands, a non-profit initiative that focuses on providing at risk children, aged 8-15, with entrepreneurial skills that can break the cycle of poverty. Through hands-on training in trades like automobile repairs, motorcycle repairs, auto electrical repairs, welding, panel beating and painting they empower out-of-school children and help them achieve self-sufficiency.

I strongly believe in the power of community to drive sustainable impact, which is why your support would go a long way in sustaining the organisation.

If you’ve watched #thewomanking movie about the women warriors of the Kingdom of Dahomey, located in Benin 🇧🇯, this statue which stands at 30M high is in their honor.

The Dahomey Amazons, were an all women army battalion which empowered women to partake in military activities. These fierce Amazonians were recruited young and trained from a young age to be ruthless & efficient warriors.

The history books are unclear about their role in capturing slaves or transitioning the Dahomey kingdom to Palm Oil trade … I’d imagine they partook in both, with such military might and the litters of slave entrapments around Ouidah, Benin.

Fun Fact: A North Korean company designed the bronze statue … same as the Renaissance Statue in Senegal 🇸🇳. Lol Africa C’mon!

Anyways, it was fun connecting to history and also experiencing Africa’s longest graffiti mural which was super colorful.

🇧🇯

Visited the “Venice of Africa” in Benin 🇧🇯 and a whole new perspective was formed.

The Ganvie Floating Village is located on the serene Lake Nokoué, Benin and serves as a testament to the marvel of human adaptation.

With their stilted houses, water purification systems, water highways, numerous white garment churches, artificial islands built to help teach infants how to walk on land because they start to swim early yet learn to walk late.

It really was marvelous to see how the indigenes adapted to life on water.

There’s a parcel of land on the lake which they previously inhabited but it was dedicated to being a cemetery which forced the locals to adapt to living on water to survive.

People experience life differently than you do.

Spent the holidays across West Africa and it was memorable

Benin 🇧🇯
Togo 🇹🇬
Ghana 🇬🇭
Ivory Coast 🇨🇮
Senegal 🇸🇳
Gambia 🇬🇲

Each country unveiled layers of history, tradition, hospitality, culture and language beyond my bubble in Nigeria 🇳🇬.

Glad to have explored the heart & soul of the African continent, meeting the best people, building new connections & friendships … all while experiencing her vibrant & captivating landscapes and topography.

It was really memorable.

I’ll probably do a ranking of each country next …
