Last Sunday my beloved Ulisse took flight, as an angel rightly should. Around me I feel an overwhelmingly heavy, silent emptiness, but it only takes a slight moment of focus and everything falls back into place: the tapping of his nails as he walks on the floor, the many sounds whose every meaning I know, those unnecessary little shakes he did all the time, those yawns as he stretched while looking me in the eyes, his hugs when I came home, his invitations to play, the kisses on my hand when I covered him with the blanket, his constant gazes while I was at the table. A lifetime together. From high school to almost thirty. What it really means to “grow up together”… every day, all day, whether he was with me or with mum. Every corner speaks of Uli. No one like him ever taught me what honest love is, the purity of feeling, and how little it takes to be happy. Sometimes I wish I had asked him for forgiveness for something I had done, but it was enough to look into his eyes to understand that he never considered me guilty of anything.

On one side, the pain of having lost my brother; on the other, the wonderful weight of a life lived to the fullest together with him. We did so many things, took so many trips… how much we played, talked, laughed, cried, confided in each other, ate, and how much we loved one another. All of this makes me cry while smiling.

My first EP. 💿

It’s made of memories, bruises, silly hopes,
and the kind of love you feel only once, or maybe twice…or three times.
Actually, four here… when you’re young enough to believe everything, and old enough to know it hurts.

I vanish sometimes.
Not because I mean to… I’ve just never understood this part of myself.
For me, summer isn’t loud. It’s quiet.
And maybe that’s why I go quiet too.
But in this silence, I found things to sing.
Noisy notes. Honest words.
And when summer starts falling asleep,
maybe some of them will turn into sound.
