🪞🪞Gardens of Longing🪞🪞Jane Frederick invites you into the garden studio @generalpractice this Friday 19th September 6-9pm to explore new work in progress developed during her September residency ‘Self Seed’ 🪞 The starting point is Renaissance formal garden design, its structure, precarious existence and reliance on the care of others to maintain its impossible aims of perfection. What a relaxing and insightful day in Chelmsford Central Park with our lovely participants in the first Sketch & Scribe workshop led in tandem with Siobhan Pierce, Poet ⛲️ We invited attendees to explore and respond to their personal experience of the communal green space ⛲️ We were blown away by the sensitive, direct and sometimes moving responses that the images, sounds, smells and memories prompted ⛲️ It was a fabulous day, great company and top coffee provided by our generous hosts @fete_graysyard ⛲️ please use your shared green spaces, they are for everyone ⛲️ taken in Chelmsford Central Park by @frederick_jane

Join us for our relaxed and concentrated drawing sessions in the beautiful Usher Art Gallery @lincsmuseumusher 📣 Limited places available for the summer school led by Medina Hammad who also leads the weekly Life drawing classes- see link in bio to book your place 📣 Autumn sessions led by experienced Art instructor/Artist Jane Frederick- you will learn how to adopt a playful and relaxed approach to drawing from observation. Each workshop can be attended as a stand-alone workshop or join us for the full programme.
The courses will help you to build confidence in your use of dry drawing media including charcoal, conte crayon, graphite and chalk. Taking inspiration from artwork in the Usher Gallery collection, each session will help you to observe and interpret light and tone and encourage you to be bold and playful with your own approach to drawing, enabling you to inject your work with depth and sensitivity. 📣All welcome📣

🌳🌳🌳I am thrilled to be shortlisted for this year’s Cass Art Prize🌳🌳🌳This is especially meaningful for me because the drawing ‘They married in the grounds of the Big Hall: Boultham Park, Lincoln’ was the first work in the ‘Orbs for the common ground’ series developed in collaboration with @llhh_project team🌳🌳🌳 These studies are responses to the historical archives donated by communities here and celebrate the city’s public green spaces 🌳🌳🌳 Exhibition in November at The Bomb Factory in London, details to follow 🌳🌳🌳 Huge thanks to @cassart1984 and the judges who selected my work 🌳🌳🌳 Congrats to everyone who has been shortlisted #TheCassArtPrize by @frederick_jane

🌳🌳🌳Join us next week at the West Common Grandstand to explore Lincoln’s treasured green spaces🌳🌳🌳Shared ground is a special exhibition which will celebrate the Local Landscapes & Hidden Histories Project, that has brought people together from across the city to explore and celebrate the heritage of Lincoln’s green spaces 🌳🌳🌳 The exhibition will be located at the Grandstand Community Centre on Saxilby Road and has been put together by LUMO Workshop. It will showcase archive material, heritage insights and creative responses developed throughout the project, highlighting the stories, landscapes and communities that make our parks and open spaces so special 🌳🌳🌳 creative workshops are free and you can drop in to participate, other events are bookable by contacting LL.HH@lincoln.gov.uk🌳🌳🌳alternatively online booking is available via https://contact.lincoln.gov.uk/service/Community_Engagement_Events 🌳🌳🌳Alongside the exhibition, visitors can take part in creative workshops, guided heritage walks, short talks, and the launch of a new book by the Survey of Lincoln, exploring the history of Lincoln’s parks and green spaces🌳🌳🌳 by @frederick_jane
