How come Italy is always the perfect living postcard?This post is a result of my new way of traveling light. Not sure if it’s a consequence of getting old and wiser, but I recently came to the conclusion that maybe traveling with 3 cameras, a phone and a drone, might not have been the closest option to enjoy a moment at the fullest. Of course, freezing a frame for me it’s much more than creating content, and it’ll always be essential part of experiencing a place or a story, but since I’m also not paid for it (😉), it might just be more fulfilling sharing the 90% of this time with my companions or my heart.So here it is, if I go on short trip I’ll bring only my analogue and my #ricohgriiix which allow me to keep those moment forever 🙂‍↕️❤️Curious to hear if your way of shooting evolved with the years ☺️Italy, 2026#lerici #liguriancoast #ligurian_places #liguriadascoprire by @freeilli

Let me start with saying that “no tourists” in Liguria is a utopia (sorry for the click bait); at the end Italians have been going there for decennia and some of you would surely recognize il Golfo dei Poeti in these clips.But despite spots like cinque terre are a pain to visit in any season, there are still pins on the map that are very livable, if visited out of peak summer season.How to find them? Well… first, don’t look at social media, good chance that whatever geotagged location you’ll find is already spoiled. Just do the work, open Google Maps and look around 😏 I can assure you Italy is full of little gems.If the mighty algorithm has pushed this to someone organizing their Italian riviera escape, hear me out before. Not sure what happened after the pandemic, but recent videos I’ve seen of cinque terre just are truly awful: over-tourism reached a point that places are ruined instead of benefiting from it. It’s stupid telling people not to travel, but I’ll never stress enough to do it in a responsible way, which means absolutely avoid reaching Italy with cruiseships: we do not ave facilities (or wide roads 😝) to welcome groups of thousands. Second tip would be: be smart about the timing. During the weekdays of our June stay we barely had people on the beach! Finally, try to move slowly and like a local and embrace discovering new locations, instead of being driven by IG. I absolutely adored this stay in Fujiyoshida! Honestly, it’s hard to pick a favorite because all our stays were so charming, but this one really stood out. Not only was the interior design stunning, but it was also the perfect spot to catch a majestic view of Mount Fuji at 5:00 AM. Plus, the coffee and brunch were excellent, and we loved having the vintage bikes to explore the area.If you’re short on time or don’t have a car, I highly recommend staying in Fujiyoshida. Buses and trains arrive right there, making your trip very efficient—plus, the town has plenty of great food options. If you have a bit more time to spare, though, I’d suggest looking for an Airbnb or a traditional ryokan in the countryside for a more nature-immersed view of the mountain. My IG breaks are becoming longer and longer. Not sure if it’s the consequence of having passed my mid 30s but I have never felt this much the urge of being disconnected like now. My screen time is now connected to commuting, toilet and skin routine and it’s truly refreshing 🥹This means I’m still stuck at 2024 in posting 🤌🏼 omg the me in the past would have be so much happy to have so much content “ready”. The me now is more intentional in choosing images and lingering in details most of people wouldn’t care about. Like the beautiful golden reflection of the sunrise on this rich green pools of Bondi beach. We were super naive when we organized our trip to Australia, thinking that having a van would allow us to improvise everyday and sleep on the road. Well, this might have been a good idea but not during the peak January holiday season 😵‍💫I had small panic attack when the 5th camping we called in Noosa told us they were full, but the solution was abandoning the coast (and the crowd) to find this gem of a place 30 min drive inland.We stayed at Boreen campground which was a lovely (quiet and small) place to explore the area, driving till Noosa Everglades to meet kangaroos 🦘 this is also the perfect base to organize excursions. Even if Bondi was not a spot that particularly hit my heart in terms of crowd, I would lie if I recommend not to go. Sunrises are indeed beautiful, and if you can manage to ignore the 5 am influencers walking towards Bronte, you will be rewarded with lovely moments of peace. Stepping into Hobart felt like a literal trip back in time.To be honest, all of Tasmania has that magic, but Hobart really surprised me. It’s a place where neighbors actually know each other, wild animals might just wander across your porch, and the architecture has a soul that feels so different from the modern Australian cities I had in mind. Even if you’re heading to Tassie for the rugged wilderness, do not skip this town.My 48-hour Hobart Hitlist:• MONA: Easily one of the most mind-blowing museums I’ve ever stepped foot in. What a privilege it would be to call this routine. A morning walk in the forest and an afternoon surf surrounded by a pod of dolphins 🐬 When I look back on my time in Australia, the feeling I carry with me isn’t just about the places—it’s about the shift in pace. It’s a commitment to a slower life and cherishing the simplest things.I think the sun and the ocean breeze do that to you no matter where you are in the world—they just make you want to stop and breathe. Byron Bay lighthouse sunsets are no secret, but the reality is so much better than the influencer version you would expect from this kind of social media places. What struck me most wasn’t just the view—it was the vibe. No rows of tripods or people living through their screens. Just a community truly living in the moment. I guess when you have access to this kind of beauty every day, you learn to just breathe it in rather than try to capture it. What a privilege. For the most fulfilling experience don’t just drive to the top, but take the Cape Byron walking track. The forest trail is stunning, and while we kept our eyes peeled for koalas, we were lucky enough to spot dolphins playing in the surf below. It was pure joy. There is nothing quite like waking up under the trees surrounded by lovely kangaroos - probably pretty average for an Australian but not for us 😂If the stunning views from my previous post haven’t convince you yet, come to Crowdy Bay NP for the wildlife (but be sure bring a lid for your food, cause with kookaburras and goannas around the dinner is never truly safe).Down to practicalities now. While the facilities are more basic than your average Aussie holiday park, NP campgrounds feel so much more authentic. Main downside is that they get booked many months in advance during high season (and they are also so cheap compared to other holidays park, so people tend to ghost book them). As we planned out travel in NSW a bit on the go, this was the only one we could book 🥲 if you are traveling to Australia I wholeheartedly recommend to plan your stay in the NP way in advance cause it’s truly worth it.Australia 2026#discovernsw #crowdybaynationalpark #nswnationalparks #nswtourism #nswcoast by @freeilli
