Free Pony Press is pleased to launch “In the Weft of Memory” by Mallory Lowe Mpoka @lowemallory at @librairiedupalais in Arles on Saturday, July 11, at 6:00 pm, during the opening week of @rencontresarles 2026.

Published in an edition of 100 copies, the publication is printed on newsprint and includes a signed and numbered original Risograph print.

[À la librairie] Demain jeudi 22 mai à 18h, lancement du livre « Blur » de Sandra Brewster publié par Free Pony Press.

« Blur » présente un regard sur la série éponyme de Sandra Brewster, un ensemble d’œuvres explorant la mémoire, le mouvement et l’identité diasporique. Comportant des reproductions par transfert au gel réalisées à partir de photographies, le livre documente le développement des techniques et des thèmes photographiques de Brewster depuis le début de cette série en 2016. Un essai de Pamela Edmonds explore comment ce travail remet en question les représentations établies et évoque des histoires de migration. Blur propose une étude détaillée des méthodes de Brewster et de son engagement avec les concepts d’opacité, de résilience et les complexités de l’identité noire.

Sandra Brewster est une artiste canadienne basée à Toronto. Enfant de parents guyanais, la pratique de Brewster reflète une compréhension multidimensionnelle de l’identité, née de la collision entre lieu et temps. Elle a obtenu son baccalauréat en beaux-arts à l’Université York et est diplômée du programme de maîtrise en études visuelles de l’université de Toronto. Ses œuvres se retrouvent dans de nombreuses collections privées et publiques et ont été présentées à l’international. Brewster est lauréate du prix Gattuso de CONTACT (2017), du prix Toronto Friends of Visual Arts Artist (2018) et a été finaliste du prix Scotiabank Photography (2023). En 2024, elle reçoit le prestigieux Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award.

Sandra will be in conversation with artist and photographer Liz Johnson Artur at 4pm followed by a reception in the garden to celebrate into the evening. Sandra Brewster is a Canadian artist based in Toronto born to Guyanese parents, who’s practice, as a result, reflects a multilayered sense of identity. She completed her BFA at York University and is a graduate of the Masters of Visual Studies program from the University of Toronto. Her work can be found in numerous private and public collections and she has exhibited internationally. Brewster is the recipient of The Gattuso Prize of CONTACT 2017, the Toronto Friends of Visual Arts Artist Prize in 2018, and was a finalist for the 2023 Scotiabank Photography Award. In 2024 she was the recipient of the prestigious Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award.

Liz Johnson Artur is a Ghanaian-Russian photographer based in London, England. Her work documents the lives of black people from across the African Diaspora. Her work strives to display and celebrate the normal, the vibrant and the subtle nuances of each of these people lives that she encounters.
