FreeVerse Family, we have a powerhouse coming to the stage next Thursday! 🎤💜

We’re beyond excited to welcome @saysomethingpoet to the FreeVerse stage on October 22nd!

As the founder of Charm City Slam, one of the fastest-growing poetry slam series in the country, and Director of Programming for Baltimore’s Black Arts District, Kenneth continues to create spaces where art and community thrive.

FreeVerse Family, you already know what happens when powerful voices meet a room full of love. We can’t wait for you to experience Kenneth live! 💜

The snaps, the claps, the “I know that’s right”, the moments that make you reach for the person next to you because you feel seen.

There’s something special about the way poetry moves through our FV home. We come for the poetry and leave having held space… and each other. 💜

If you’ve ever wondered what FreeVerse feels like, it looks a little something like this.

Coming back home after Summer break felt so good. Seeing our family come back together and absolutely deliver reminds us why FreeVerse exists in the first place. This space is for you and we’re honored you choose to spend time with us. A few frames from our September show. Our poets brought it!

This is what community looks like.

And we’re only getting started. 💜

Hey FV Fam,

Meet Fanta Ballo: poet, artist, activist, teaching artist, and one of our featured artists joining us at FreeVerse Presents this month.

Harlem’s own, Fanta’s words have traveled far beyond the page. She’s reached more than 10,000 students across 150+ schools, performed at the Apollo Theater, Barclays Center, and Kennedy Center, and shared stages with Idina Menzel, Joy Harjo, and Mahogany L. Browne. Her work has also brought her to The Tamron Hall Show, UNICEF, and the NYC Mayor’s Office.

Most recently, Fanta received the inaugural Wonder Grant from the Shawn Foundation to publish her debut collection, For All The Things I Never Got To Say.

And in just TWO WEEKS, she’s bringing that voice to the FreeVerse stage. 💜

Come experience Fanta Ballo live alongside a full evening of poetry, community, and some of the voices moving the culture forward.
