On March 17, 1993, saxophonist Maceo Parker @maceoparker performed his famous funk track « Pass the Peas » live on France 2’s cultural show Le cercle de minuit. Surrounded by his musicians for a performance captured by the INA, he delivered an energetic rendition true to the legendary horn section he originally formed with James Brown. The historic trombonist accompanying him—and who co-wrote the track—was Fred Wesley.

Le 17 mars 1993, le saxophoniste Maceo Parker a interprété son célèbre morceau funk « Pass the Peas » en direct sur le plateau de l’émission culturelle Le cercle de minuit sur France 2. Entouré de ses musiciens pour une prestation captée par l’INA, il y a livré une version énergique fidèle à la section de cuivres légendaire qu’il formait à l’origine avec James Brown. Le tromboniste historique qui l’accompagnait et qui a coécrit ce titre est Fred Wesley @funkyfredwesley .

On the set of French TV Show "Top À" on April 29, 1972, Michel Legrand and Stan Getz delivered a jubilant version of « Gossiping », the flagship title of their album Communications ‘72. Supported by Armand Migiani’s great variety orchestra, the two artists engage in a stripping musical dialogue where Legrand, in energetic scatted vocals, responds to Getz’s fast and relaxed saxophone.

A true pillar of international jazz fusion, Ivorian drummer Paco Sery distinguished himself as the rhythmic thruster of Joe Zawinul’s Zawinul Syndicate, who considered him one of the best drummers in the world. During his passage on France 2 in 2001 for « Snaughty Girl », he instills this same mastery of Afro-funk polyrhythmy and this scenic fervor, offering a brilliant demonstration of his talent at the service of his album Voyages.

Véritable pilier du jazz fusion international, le batteur ivoirien Paco Sery s’est notamment illustré comme le propulseur rythmique du Zawinul Syndicate de Joe Zawinul, qui le considérait comme l’un des meilleurs batteurs au monde. Lors de son passage sur France 2 en 2001 pour « Naughty Girl », il insuffle cette même maîtrise de la polyrythmie afro-funk et cette ferveur scénique, offrant une démonstration éclatante de son talent au service de son album Voyages.

In 1981, in the overheated intimacy of Club 78 in Paris, the very essence of the Brazilian groove is expressed in a few seconds: Jorge Ben’s percussive guitar engages in an incandescent dialogue with the cuíca of his percussionist. Between sharp setbacks and acute frictions, the two instruments respond to each other with absolute complicity that transforms the club into a real samba-funk boiler room, before the artist invites a spectator to join him on stage to dance samba.

By interpreting live the themes of Un éléphant ça trompe énormément and his other successes, the composer shows how the keyboard injects a melancholic poetry into the heart of Yves Robert’s comedies, far beyond simple comic accompaniment.
