Did you know the man behind Ottawan’s « D.I.S.C.O. » also helped shape @daftpunk ’s sound?

Meet Daniel Vangarde (Bangalter) — absolute disco legend, French Touch pioneer, and the ultimate music trailblazer!

Daniel played a huge role in shaping the musical taste of his son Tomas Bangalter, one of the founding members of the legendary Daft Punk.

Growing up surrounded by music, Thomas watched the process of creating tracks and mastered the art of studio production from an early age. It was this experience that helped him develop a unique understanding of melody, harmony and sound design that became key elements of Daft Punk’s style.
‼️ Information about his involvement with Funkytown has not been confirmed, but that doesn't make him any less a legendary producer

One half of Modjo turns 50 today.

Everyone knows Lady (Hear Me Tonight). But here’s what most people don’t know about @romaintranchart .

He’s a trained musician, piano, guitar, bass, music theory. The hit wasn’t luck. It was talent and work.

Before Modjo, his band Seven Tracks featured Paul de Homem-Christo on drums (Guy-Man’s brother)

After Modjo, he co-produced @sebastientellier ’s Sexuality alongside Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and worked with Éric Chédeville (Rico The Wizzard of Crydamoure)

A French Touch legacy hiding in plain sight.

4️⃣ days before the 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ ⚽️ World Cup kicks off, and we stumbled on this forgotten « Cantina » gem with Daft Punk.

Back in 2010, when South Africa hosted the first-ever African World Cup, Adidas did something bold: turn the Mos Eisley Cantina into a viewing party. And bring Daft Punk into it. Alongside Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, Noel Gallagher, Franz Beckenbauer — and yeah, C-3PO and Han Solo.

Here’s the thing: they built a set to the exact dimensions of the original 1977 scene. Stand-ins for interactions with Star Wars characters. Pixel-perfect compositing at The Mill. Boogie Studio remixed the original Cantina sound effects with new dialogue. And this detail: Daft Punk and C-3PO get kicked out of the bar by the bartender...

It launched June 12, 2010 — one day after Simphiwe Tshabalala scored the tournament’s opening goal for South Africa with what’s now remembered as one of the most iconic first strikes in World Cup history.
