🧡 These cookies taste like golden hour. Idk how to explain it but there’s something about that brown butter and butterscotch flavor together that is so harmonious and delicious!

Here’s a small batch recipe for some delicious brown butter butterscotch cookies. Bonus: no chill time required!!

1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter
1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp light brown sugar
2 Tbsp sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup butterscotch chips
Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions
1. Start by browning the butter. Place the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter and continue heating and stirring. The butter will begin to pop and crackle. Keep stirring. After a few minutes, it will become foamy, develop a nutty aroma, and turn light brown in color. Remove from heat. Cool in the fridge for 15 minutes.

2. Preheat oven to 350° F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

3. In a large bowl, combine the cooled butter, brown sugar, and sugar with an electric mixer on low. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.

4. Add the flour and baking soda, then beat on low until the dough comes together. Fold in butterscotch chips.

5. Use a large cookie scoop or ice cream scoop to portion the dough onto the baking sheet. (You may choose to chill the dough in the freezer or fridge for an hour, but it’s not needed!)

6. Bake for about 11-12 minutes until the cookies are just starting to brown around the edges. While they’re hot, use a glass or small bowl to scoot the cookies into a round shape if the edges are imperfect. Top with additional butterscotch chips and sea salt if desired!

Makes about 10 large cookies. ENJOY!

These cutie little pumpkin cupcakes are way easier than you probably think! The cupcakes themselves only require 2 ingredients. Top them with homemade cream cheese frosting or leave them plain to enjoy as muffins!

I always make sure I have a can of pumpkin and a box of spice cake mix during the Fall for these! So easy 🤗

Cupcakes/muffins
1 box Spice cake mix
1 15oz can of pumpkin purée (I use Libby. Note that some brands are more watery than others)

Cream cheese frosting
1 stick of butter, softened
1 block of cream cheese
5 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Beat together the spice cake mix and pumpkin purée until combined. The mixture will be very thick. Spoon or pipe into a cupcake tin with 12 liners. Bake at 350°F for about 16 minutes. Allow to cool.

While the cupcakes are cooling, make the frosting. Beat together the butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar one cup at a time. Add the vanilla. Beat until combined. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe onto cooled cupcakes!

Who doesn’t love a good skillet cookie? With those crispy edges and warm, gooey center! Topped with some vanilla ice cream.. perfection!

This brown butter toffee chocolate chunk skillet cookie is absolutely delicious and perfect for dessert at home!

RECIPE

Ingredients:
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup flour
1/8 tsp baking soda
3 Tbsp toffee bits
2 Tbsp chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
Flaky salt for topping

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Heat the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring lightly. After a few minutes, the butter will begin to bubble and then become foamy. Keep stirring until the butter turns light brown in color and develops a nutty aroma. Set aside to cool slightly.

3. In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar and (slightly cooled) brown butter.

4. Next, stir in the egg yolk and vanilla.

5. Add the flour and baking soda. Stir to combine. The dough will start out crumbly. If you find it helpful, use clean hands to bring the dough together.

6. Fold in the toffee bits and chocolate.

7. Coat a 5” or 6”mini skillet with butter and press the dough into it. Bake for about 13 min. Top with flaky salt and serve warm with vanilla ice cream!

Bonjour! I’m Danielle (pronounced “Duh-Neal”) and I’m not French, but I do love Paris!

French Vanilla Bakery began 5 years ago as a home bakery selling French macarons. I chose the name French Vanilla as a nod to my love of all things vanilla (and French). While I was learning to take better photos of my macarons, I discovered a passion for food photography and quickly began working with clients. I closed my macaron business and focused on photography and recipe development!

Fast forward 5 years and I’ve had some wonderful opportunities to work with many brands in the food industry. I’ve learned so much about food science and have created my own recipes for brands and other at-home bakers, just for fun!

Although I love to bake, take photos, and create content, French Vanilla is a side business. I work full-time in corporate IT 🤓 and have degrees in accounting and marketing.

I live in Michigan with my husband who is a Marine Corps Veteran and now works in the auto industry. We have an adorable yellow lab puppy named Nilla and she has our hearts. We love dogs and recently lost our senior pups. It was a tough year with so many losses, but Nilla has brought so much joy!

Anyway, thanks for following along and being a part of my journey! It’s been a fun and full 5 years. We have so many exciting things to come and I’m grateful for this supportive community! 🤍

How do we feel about Pumpkin Pecan Waffle Cookies? 🧇

Fluffy pumpkin spice waffle cookies with notes of maple syrup, embossed with a fun waffle pattern. Topped with cinnamon buttercream, a drizzle of maple syrup, and crushed toasted pecans!

These may or may not have been inspired by my favorite Fall candle 😂

Sundays 🤝🏻 cinnamon rolls

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls with a generous spread of cream cheese icing 😍

I recommend making these in the Greenpan Elite Convection Air Fry Oven, but you can also make these in a conventional oven. Simply let them rest for about an hour before baking and bake at 350°F for about 30 min. Comment “recipe” and I’ll send you the recipe link!
