Before @freshjohnson hit the slopes of Utah for her wedding day I had the pleasure of capturing her intimate ceremony on film. It was a very intentional date of 11.11 which was Their first date. It was filled with intentional shots they wanted to recreate from both their lives with their parents and their wedding dates. It’s always so rewarding to be trusted with curating nostalgia. Ok…about two years ago, I posted a screenshot from @tinder ... It was our first interaction after we “swiped” and my girl @ellezeneaux mentioned that the date was 11/11. Prior to that, I had not realized it. (Those who know, know) Anyway, we knew we wanted to keep those numbers close. We took the opportunity to elope with our immediate family who were not able to join us in Utah with the hopes of having my Daddy walk me down the aisle. We also wanted #BigRed’s Grandmother and my Father to sign our marriage license. Note that I hit @cece_coleman18 up on a whim to Officiate when we learned we couldn’t do our Catholic ceremony (🤣🤣🤣 that’s Randy’s fault). We chose CeCe because of her brand @_meetmeatthebar, because our first time meeting in person was literally at a bar. That’s also the reason we chose The Shag room at The Virgin, because of the bar that we used as our ceremony altar. The film by @redfeatherfilms @toucan.tango will tell the rest of the story. Duality. That’s the only way to describe my 40th spin. Two weddings and a funeral is a crazy summary when you say it out loud, but to know me is to know that I’ll count it all joy. I was able to experience the happiest day of my life twice and I’m so thankful, because it padded TF out of the hardest day. The constant of both experiences was being surrounded by family, friends and love. “Love is always the answer; who cares what the question is.” (Papa Smurf would say that every day before signing off of the radio) I decided to kick off 41 by finally burying my Daddy this morning. Duh, I’m the drama…but girl it was time. I took the long way. Just me and him riding through our old stomping grounds this morning, except we weren’t in his box Chevy…and well…he was in an urn. I needed that tho…for Me. Always take what you need, friends…you’ll have fewer regrets. 💕❤️💕❤️💕 but also, 41 is craaaaazy 🤣😂🤣😂 #TheFreshestDayOfTheYear #fortyWON by @freshjohnson

30 days without the champ is crazy. On July 19, 2026, at 8:44am, my daddy and peacefully took his last breath, while I was snoring on the couch next to his bed. I stayed while they cleaned him up and rolled him to the morgue. I needed that. I aimlessly roamed around the hospital on a search for gift shop candy and coffee as I waited on #BigRed during his 3hr drive back to pick me up. I wondered if I looked like my daddy was newly dead. Y’all gotta know that to know me, is to know I’m Lionel and Lillie lil girl. No matter how old, I’m their baby. Their words, not mine. The tough and sometimes mean part is all him. My sweet and kind part is all her. Best of both worlds, if you will. I’ve always been proud to show up as they raised me: a good human. It’s how I sleep well at night. My Daddy always told me that I had to be better than him. Be kind, show love but get rough only when the need arises. I used to get picked on for being smart (wild, right?), he taught me how to defend myself. The best of everything will always be mine, because my Daddy said so. You never forget things your daddy said. I’ll never forget being torn between loneliness and extreme joy when I walked down the aisle for our wedding alone. But I truly believe I had two perfect weddings because of him. I spared nothing to send him off. He never cared about money, girl. Me sitting on the second row at a funeral I paid for is wild…but I digress. I’ve never had any true expectation of his other kids. Decency isn’t genetic. But I stood in the fact that they loved him as much as I did and he loved them immensely, so I shared space for them to also be and feel. I’m posting this to mark the moment. It changes you for what may be forever. I’m fine; this has been a steady decline for the past 6 years. It has been an honor to serve as his person. In every lifetime, I’d literally choose him. by @freshjohnson

The #NotBridesmaids // Please be clear…if I wanted them in 1970s style bridesmaids dresses with matching hats, the girlies woulda done it. We be ‘bout whatever for each other (literally). But I wanted a low lift experience for my girls. Like let’s just get our hair and makeup done together while we yap, kiki and sip. Then they left to go get dressed. Easy. There was no better way to kick off such a large day; it was the best time. To have so many parts of my life under one roof like that…from meeting Shindra at 11yrs old to Monique at 36 and sooooo many memories and experiences in between. Each “how we met story is engrained in my heart, and epic in its own way. Being sisters with them has been SO easy over the years; we be doing life, chile. When @cjjrphoto broke out to do the individual shots, I was like, let’s do something different…not too posey-posey.
