I thought I’d share a little about my process today. So most of my work is acrylic on canvas, although I’ve been known to collage some items into my paintings as well. I also work with encaustic (wax) but I’ll save that for another post. 😃 I love to build up layers of color, shapes and texture as I go, using heavy body paint as well as fluid paint and a water bottle for drips. I love color and value contrast, so you’ll see a lot of very saturated colors, especially on the under layers. It’s a back and forth process that takes hours - lots of letting paint dry to avoid making mud. That’s also why I typically have several canvases going at once.

Notice how the tone and content of this piece is changing over time. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!

Greetings from Fresh Paint Studio! I’m Misty, owner and artist at FPS. This summer I’ve been working on new abstract paintings and works on paper, as well as some mural concepts for clients. Check back later in the week for some behind the scenes looks into the studio!

Taking it back to 2018. I painted the “Smile” mural on the former Innovative Images building at 4th and Main, downtown Frisco. It’s still there, but covered by fences right now, as Main Street is being reconstructed. #downtownfrisco #raildistrictfrisco #visitfrisco #smile taken in The Rail District by @freshpaintstudio

Had to snap a pic when at Frisco Discovery Center yesterday. I painted this #iheartfrisco photo op a few years back and found myself matching it! The color still looks vibrant! I used @goldenpaints and golden varnish to make sure the color lasted for years.
