To Bergen, With Love We're very excited to announce our first international exhibition ! The exhibition will be held at Gallery Taxi (@galleri_taxi), a space led by students of the University of Bergen, Norway. Artists were asked to make new work responding to a postcard image of a fjord in Balholm, known for being a historic artist community north of Bergen. Artists could reimagine the postcard in any way but the artwork submitted must remain the same dimensions (9x14cm). Open: 15-16 May Preview: Fri 15 May, 7-9pm 🇳🇴 #artistopencall #artistopportunities #opencall #artexhibiton #postcards by @freshsaladart
To Bergen, With Love Opening today is our first International Art Exhibition! Located in Bergen, the old capital of Norway, this exhibition features 38 postcard-size artworks responding to an image of a fjord near Balholm. Exhibition Statement: " The 35 artists were given the opportunity to respond to the image in any way they saw fit, whilst keeping the postcards original dimensions. Some reproduced the postcard image in a new medium, some abstracted the image into descriptive shapes and forms and others doing their own research and creating work based on Balhom’s apple harvesting and cider industry. Completed artworks were then sent to a UK address before being brought all together to Bergen. In a flipped postcard exchange, sending an artwork of Norway to Norway. Providing an interesting external insight to Bergen and the surrounding landscape, culture and history from artists who have perhaps never been to the country before. Opening tonight: Planning Permission Join us at the Private View this evening from 6.30 - 8.30pm at Gallery 19a for a drink on us to celebrate the works in the show ! We're really excited about this exhibition and would love to see you there 🍻 " The artworks in this exhibition are presented as depictions of dreamlike architecture - structures that hover between the imagined and the impossible. Rather than offering resolved designs, the works operate as visual propositions that resist practical logic, prompting questions about how such forms might exist, function, or be inhabited. Planning Permission PV: Friday 23rd January, 6.30-8-30pm Open: 24th Jan - 3rd Feb, 2026 " The artworks in this exhibition will be asked to be considered as depictions of dreamlike architecture. Forming questions surrounding hypothetical if not impossible constructions. Focusing on colour and form, suggestions of arches, columns, and other structures will reveal themselves. Being brought together on an imagined site of chaotic scale and proportion, creating an abstracted city-scape to navigate. Titled Planning Permission highlighting the comical complexity of not only the premise of the fantastical builds, but also the slow bureaucratic process of permitted development.
