Remember our parties at the Post Bar? Dancing from sunshine into the early hours? A distant memory since that beloved Tottenham venue shut down suddenly earlier this year, but what if we told you there was a campaign to reopen the Post as a community-run music venue, and that you could contribute to this campaign by... coming to this event?

Meet us at @distillery.n17 on 18 July for a classic Koshari day/night party to raise funds for @friendsofpost. We’re really excited to be playing at Distillery for the first time - we’ve got the place from 4-4, and we’ll be joined by a crack team of guest DJs to put fuel on the fire. Don’t miss this one.

📮 If you've not joined our WhatsApp group yet, I'm sure you are wondering, who are "Friends of The Post"❓

👥 We are a collective of individuals within the community who have been running the venue & curating events over the past years

💡When we learned of The Post Bar’s closure, we felt a strong responsibility to act — Since then, we have been laying the foundations to establish a Community Benefit Society (CBS)

🤝 We are in active discussions with @cooperativesuk to develop our Community Share Offer & formalise the structure of the society and have got guidance & insight from venues such as @sistermidnightldn & @piehouse.coop

☀️ Our shared vision is clear: To secure the venue as a genuinely community-owned space — one that exists to serve, support & bring people together as a vital cultural social hub

🗣️ We have opened constructive conversations with the current leaseholders regarding the possibility of taking on the lease

💸 While we have applied for funding to support these first steps, additional resources are needed to cover setup costs. To make this a viable reality, we are seeking collective funding commitments to total £40,000–£50,000

🏠 This will enable us to cover essential upfront costs, including the lease deposit, rent, and the equipment required to reopen

✍🏻 As part of this process, we are gathering pledges through a community survey to understand the level of local support for the share offer & interest

💰 We are also exploring loan-based support from those who are willing to invest in the project, with repayment structured through future fundraising efforts and the Community Share Offer

💪 Securing these commitments will allow us to approach leaseholders & landlords with confidence to demonstrate that there is both the will & the means within the community to sustain the space

📝 In the coming weeks, we intend to host an open organising meeting, inviting anyone who would like to contribute to reshaping our space into a truly community-owned venue

💌 If you have relevant experience or expertise & would be willing to offer guidance or support, we would be very keen to hear from you - Send us a DM!
