It's the 155th Anniversary of Raynes Park Station on Friday, 30th October 2026.

We’ve come a long way since steam trains, Class455 and now the Arterios; more comfort, less pollution.

The Friends are organising a cuttings table on platform 3 between 11am and 2pm showing the plants grown this year. Please come along to say hello and find out more about our activities.

The 2026 SWR Community Rail Awards
took place on 7th October in Portsmouth Harbour.

The Friends are delighted to be highly commended for the Best Biodiversity Project.

It's fantastic recognition of all the hard work by our volunteers to protect nature at a busy station. Well done and thank you for your support.

Lots of muscle used today on the embankment. We're spreading the leaf mould and repainting the wooden boards.

Looking good! by @friendsofraynesparkstation

Purple liriope (Liriope muscari), also known as lilyturf, is doing exceptionally well on the Coombe Lane embankment.

We highly recommend this drought tolerant plant.

Now the autumn rain has begun, here's the verdict on the winners and losers at the embankment.

The great survivors are some emerging cyclamens and the purple liriope flowers. A small spider fatsia is holding up well and the carex may not be lost after all.

Our camelia, teasels and two epimediums haven't survived the drought yet the large fatsia looks in great form.

We've learnt so much this summer. If you want to find out more, talk to us on Tuesday mornings when we're on the embankment. We're almost experts!! 🤣

What we discovered during this long hot dry summer is that tomatoes, oregano, rosemary, thyme, sage and curry plants are VERY drought tolerant.

We'll be creating an Italian garden on platform 4 in 2027. Watch this space!

The @GoodGym Merton team had a busy night this week helping @friendsofraynesparkstation and a nearby @mertongardenstreets road - watering the embankment, pruning overgrown brambles, and weeding to keep our streets chemical-free.

It was lovely to have several locals stop to thank us, including a familiar mobility scooter user delighted to have a clear path again!

Jobs ticked off, path cleared, and straight to the pub for drinks and birthday celebrations 🍻🎂.

Group sessions are what we look forward to every Monday - why not join us and get fit while doing good?

Join us in applauding the volunteers from GoodGym Merton who helped us Monday evening to water the Coombe Lane embankment and cut back the overgrowth on Approach Road.

Local residents walking along Approach Road see the difference immediately.

We're doing our best to help the horse chestnut and sycamore trees during the drought as they keep the centre of Raynes Park cool and shaded.

Thank you everyone 👏 👏 👏

Today's rescue mission by our volunteers was to water platform 4 and remove the weeds in section 4. So far most of the plants are surviving.
Have you spotted the rogue tomatoes?

Please send positive vibes for some rain soon 🙏 🙏 🙏
