New video!!!!

🇬🇧 Today on the channel, I’m talking about Final Fantasy Resonance and why I think it’s good that video games originally released on smartphones are being re-released as full-fledged titles for current-generation consoles, rather than being lost forever.
I’ll leave the links to YouTube and Rumble in my bio and featured stories.

Podcast 4X04

🇬🇧 Today on the channel, I’m taking a moment to reflect on one of the latest news stories: a vulnerability has been discovered in the PS5 that allows the console to be modified so that games can be run in a way that is questionable to say the least. Many people have described this as revenge for the phasing out of physical media, but is this really the case? I’m discussing this on trusted platforms (links in my bio and featured stories).

Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection (Switch)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 It might not make the front pages, but this compilation of eight games put together by @limitedrungames is a real trip down memory lane and a great addition to any collection.
Do you remember the series? Did you know about this compilation?

___________________________________________________________

Controller Pro - The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition (Switch 2)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 We’re already starting to see products marking the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series and, in my case – as I already have a Switch 2 and a case – what caught my eye (apart from the game itself) was the controller. I didn’t get too obsessed with it, though, and managed to pre-order it almost by chance just when I’d given up hope, as pre-orders had only just opened.
It’s a lovely way to mark this milestone, and I’m also making the most of the fact that I didn’t have a controller of this type for my Switch 2, so when the game comes out next week, I’ll be able to play it on the telly using this controller.
Are you looking forward to the Ocarina of Time remake? I certainly am.

¿Tenéis ganas del remake de Ocarina of Time? Yo sí, desde luego.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (PS5)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 This instalment, which continued the main events of the Yakuza saga and Kiryu’s story, was to face a minor problem: although it was translated into several languages, it was not released in physical format outside Asia, meaning it had to be purchased digitally or as an import (with a cover in Japanese or English), fortunately, the added languages were retained in that version, making it perfectly playable; although, given that we had all the previous games, it would have been the natural thing to release it in the format we’re so fond of.
Have you played it?

Final Fantasy Resonance (Switch)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 Final Fantasy is back with its first instalment in the style known as HD-2D – a game whose core elements are instantly recognisable, such as turn-based combat and some rather obvious fan service featuring the protagonists from the numbered instalments in battle.
A title that originated on smartphones and has been revamped to reach us as a video game without the typical mechanics of a free-to-play title, doing away with microtransactions, but whose story was already good in its day.
Were you looking forward to this game?

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Midnight Edition (Switch)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 I think one of the best pieces of news this year is that one of the most iconic video game franchises has returned; it was certainly due for a new instalment, given the genre’s current resurgence, and after so many, many compilations, it was about time.
A new Castlevania has landed in our hands, and I think it’s cause for celebration amongst fans of the scene, with a stunning cover for a game that I sincerely hope does well so that Konami can revive the franchise as it has done with others, such as Silent Hill.
The Belmonts are back in action.
Are you going to play it?

____________________________________________________________

¿Vas a jugarlo?

Demon's Souls (PS5)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 It was one of the games that caught my eye the most in the PlayStation 5 catalogue, and although it’s been a long time coming, I’ve now got the remastered and most up-to-date version of this classic, which originally appeared on the PS3 and laid the foundations for the genre that would emerge with From Software’s work – one of the finest achievements of the now-defunct Bluepoint, which has once again shown its mettle.
To be honest, I’m really looking forward to revisiting these lands and exercising that patience needed to see it through to the end.
Have you played Demon’s Souls?

_______________________________________________________________

Kingdom Hearts Collection [I-III] (Switch 2)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 We could go on and on about the things that have gone wrong with this re-release (among which I have absolutely no doubt is the ugliest cover in the series) but on the other hand, I’d rather celebrate the fact that I can play (almost) the entire series in a single game (I say ‘almost’ because it doesn’t include *Melody of Memory*) in handheld mode – something I’m really looking forward to doing whilst we wait for *Kingdom Hearts IV*, which is expected to be released in 2027.
Have you got your zips and keyblades ready?

______________________________________________________________

Lufia (Super Nintendo)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 It goes without saying that the return of Lufia to modern consoles is one of the pieces of news that has excited me the most in the video game industry recently – it’s no surprise, then, that I mentioned it in the channel’s latest video.
It’s a game I couldn’t get hold of back in the day, and when I finally could, I played it on an emulator; now, thanks to @juanjodiazromano – to whom I’ll always be grateful – I can cherish it.
Are you looking forward to playing this re-release alongside the first instalment?

_____________________________________________________________

Morkull: Ragas't Rage - Collector's Edition (Switch)

🇬🇧/🇪🇸

🇬🇧 Another game developed in Spain, released as a limited edition, this is a fairly light-hearted Metroidvania (not very long) with a sense of humour that we might call ‘roguish’ – a good choice for getting started in the genre and supporting smaller projects created with a passion for the medium.
Did you know about it?

____________________________________________________________

🇬🇧 As it’s become quite the trend in recent days to pick the nine games that have shaped and defined you as a gamer (or your favourites – call them what you will), these are the ones I’ve gone for. I’ve tried to limit myself to one per series (so as not to make this a Final Fantasy-only list) and, apart from the first two, I’ve listed them in no particular order. As you know, these sorts of lists tend to vary a lot and are subject to change, but right now these are my nine games.
What are yours?
